Late pass!

"Ain't no talkin' in my area
My n****s keep quiet like librarians
That pork and that beef is for barbarians
You see me, I'm more of a pescatarian
Beef with me will have you floatin' in an aquarium"

Mic Terror - Viagra Triangle
(From Viagra Triangle single; 2024)

Mic Terror & his m8s dropped so many loosies throughout 2024 that I managed to miss this one. It's another gem which mixes the ignorance with the elegance on some Chicago "drive slow, homie"-core. If I were gonna collate an album out of Mic's 2024 loosies, I'd use Juicenan Freestyle as the first track and Viagra Triangle here as the final track. Maybe that should be my next playlist? For now tho, here's a list of my top 10 favourite non-2026 Rap songs I've discovered this year.

Run-D.M.C - Jam-Master Jammin' (Rick Rubin remix) (1985)
Biggie Smalls - Biggie Got The Hype Shit (1991)
Me & My Cousin - My Day (1996)
Ma$e ft. Puffy - I'm No Killa (O.G version) (1998)
Rev Run - I Used To Think I Was Run (2005)
Bavgate ft. LJ - Keep It Gangsta (2005)
J-Diggs - Diggs Dance (2005)
Mic Terror - Viagra Triangle (2024)
The Egyptian Lover - Vocoder Jam (2025)
Sir Michael Rocks - Talkin' Legit (2025)

Everybody eats, T

"What you been through? What you got to rap about?
Besides what your brodie did, and you the type to rat him out"

Mic Terror ft. Easy O'Hare - Rent Money
(From The Terror Files album; 2026)

Bloggin' ain't a game, Gawd! Call me Emma Radacanu because I don't play! Here's another fave cut from the new Mic Terror LP. That beat is like half Kamikaze, half Deliverance: a midwedternplayalisticcountryrapchoon. As for the werdz, Terror does Terror for the first verse and chorus before his pal Easy O'Hare slides in for the second verse. The LP ain't no fun if ur m8s can't get none, and it's been that way since El Shabazz.

Real Talk

"Sometimes negative is good like a aids test
The answer is negative if it pays less
I want positive answers, you better say YES!
Couldn't tell when I was hurtin' 'cause I stay fresh"

Mic Terror - Lyrical Shit
(From The Terror Files album; 2026)

I'm starting a new The Blog Era podcast where it's me shouting "MIC TERROR HAS MORE JAMS AND MORE LONGEVITY THAN ANY OF THOSE TRENDY RAPPERS PEOPLE WERE SWEATIN'!" as I play Mic T songs from 2007 to the present day. Here's another favourite cut from his new album where Problematic Papi Mic expresses opinionz which would make Pimp C proud. Like Mic said on his latest single, mix the ignorance with elegance.

I been survivin' on my own like The Revenant

"In this world you either buyin' or you sellin' it
I'm in my bag like yo' grandmama's peppermints"

Mic Terror - A Year Ago
(From The Terror Files album; 2026)

#MicTerrorHive assemble. Problematic Papi dropped a new album today and this is the second single after Nothin' Can Stop. R. Kelly at a high school game ain't as hard as this.

The Micgic Number

"These hoes look me in my eyes and call me beautiful
I say you right, baby, but bitch you still delusional
Moral is, two things can be right at the same time
Bitch-ass n***as done wrote some of the most insane lines"

Bruus ft. Mic Terror & Gzus Piece - All I Do
(From All I Do single; 2026)

Nothin' Can Stop had me open for another Bruus & Mic Terror track. Throw Gzus Piece into the mix and I'm a happy camper like Bruce Springsteen's sister in Sleepaway Camp II. That clickity-clackity beat on this one has got real #MicTerrorHive members firing up Chief Sampson right after.

OJ was a hero/villain to most, but he was always just Detective Nordberg to me

"Car trunk fulla cocaine
And that pistol in my lap go bang
I can never lack, no way
F*ck the police, I'm OJ"

Mic Terror - OJ Simpson
(From No Lives Matter album; 2021)

I was slightly disappointed that Mic Terror didn't capitalise on OJ Simpson's death by belatedly shooting a video for the best song from his No Lives Matter album. It's always said that the L.A police's pursuit of OJ Simpson was the most leisurely car chase of all time, so it makes sense that Mic T's ode to The Juice™ would be some prime "drive slow, homie" music. Big fan of the casual contempt for Fivio Foreign on this shit. That lad was part of my favourite New York Drill song to date, but he's a vacuous empty vessel, and N.Y Drill is novelty Rap even if it does offer up a few choonz every now and then.

Tuesdays are Terrorable

"You see tears in my eyes? 'Cause I can't feel 'em
And my hoes get all my f*cks, I ain't got none to give 'em
But keep me posted and lemme know when it finally kill him
So I can buy some blunts, cut 'em open and fill 'em"

Mic Terror - Sippin' My Tea
(From No Lives Matter album; 2021/YouTube; 2023)

Belated video for one of the highlights of Mic Terror's last album. M.T spittin' some Zen #problematicist conscious Rap which begins with him metaphorically sippin' some earl grey tea and ends with him literally smokin' a pack celebrating the impending death of a terminally ill enemy. Damn, son - that's cold like them European countries Ill Bill and Vinnie Paz be touring. Now, can we get a video for OJ Simpson next plz?

Bonus beats: make like Positive K and step up front with Mic Terror & Gzus Piece's The Titty Song.

I promise anybody can get it like I'm a communist

"I keep my glock in a purse, you can't endorse it
Oh, you forgot about 2Pac in the corset?
Or Cameo with the red cup on his nuts
You old n*ggas need to shut the f**k up!"

Mic Terror ft. Gzus Piece - Chinese Money
(From Chinese Money single; 2023)

Took me a while to warm to comrade Gzus Piece's flow here, but now I've acclimatised and everything is all Bisto. In fact, it's the exact sort of graviness I want from a 2023 Mic Terror & Gzus Piece song. Check the optimum #ClobberTalk in Mic T's verse defending man-bags from the criticisms of sartorially-stunted old headz with selective memories and Polly Pocket mentalities. These streets are like Baghdad if you ain't carrying your gentlemen's essentials in a man-bag. Less essential, however, is Gzus Piece's fleece jacket in the video. Gorpcore victims have a lot to answer for with making an eyeball-polluting fabric like fleece aesthetically acceptable. The black sheep of Gorp-gear, it's the clobber equivalent of an ironic mullet.

"They let me in with the strap, but they vaccined Cardi B
Why the f**k they sell junk food at the pharmacy?
R. Kelly at a high school game ain't as hard as me
I don't give a f**k, Robert still the king of R&B"

Mic Terror - Lori Lightfoot
(From Lori Lightfoot single; 2023)

Catching up on some of the recent #MondayMass tracks and this one is a jam 4 real in the Mic Terror canon. Still containing multitudes, still reppin' Harold's Chicken Shack, still Chicago's Papi of #Problematic Rap. Real talk, why do they sell Chupa Chup lollipops in pharmacies?

Mondays are Terrorble Part 2

"Got her screamin', soundin' like Texas Chainsaw Massacre
But I ain't Leatherface, I ain't chasin' after her"

Mic Terror - Might Pimp
(From YouTube; 2023)

Mic Terror back up on The Martorialist, turning the Windy City into the Wavy City. Open ya third eye and realise that a song can't be sexist if it interpolates Olivia Newton-John's Physical. Two talking points here: Mic's No Limit Mystikal vest, and the video being shot at FakeShoreDrive's Project Pat show this past weekend.

Previously: Mondays are Terrorble.

Because it's 11:30 and the club is Jukin', Jukin'

"She fakes it when y'all sexin' it
You ain't know your girl was a thespian?
When she with me she a lesbian
Her and her girlfriend let me hit it
I hit it out the park like Joshua Gibson
Kinda thick yellow skin like she off The Simpsons"

Mic Terror - Take My Soul (Mic T-Mix)
(Break My Soul beatjack; 2023)

**DJ Kay Slay voice**
ONLY CHICAGO RAPPERS CAN DO HIP-HOUSE LIKE THIS, YO!!

Yeah, hittin' the G-Spot is cool, but have you ever hit the Juke spot like Mic Terror? Mic T understands that smut-rap songs are a framework for comedy & zingers the listener can use in their own sexploits, not in-detail wank fantasies for a rapper's own weird kinks. I'm reliably informed Take My Soul is a beatjack of some 2022 Beyonce single, but since I'm not a gay guy or a Pitchfork poptimist I've not heard the original and hopefully never will hear it. In my head, Take My Soul will always be a Mic Terror song just like Cold As Hell will always be a Mic Terror song.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mondays are Terrorble

"See me with a white chick, know she a heiress
And not one of them bitches from them trailers
That's my milk of magnesia
She 'bout to pay for this Roc Marci feature"

Mic Terror - Juiceman Freestyle
(From YouTube; 2023)

Last Monday Gzus Piece dropped a new single, this past Monday Mic Terror popped up with a new single. Juiceman Freestyle is a Lyrical Exercise track but with a whopper of a chorus. As with the Gzus Piece joint, it feels more like an intro than a single, but both songs are good (re)entrées to whatever music Mic and Gzus intend to drop in 2023.

"N*ggas say they ryders, but n*ggas couldn't ride a bike
With ya punchlines about ya China white
In high school you was Napoleon Dynamite
Your Napoleon complex will make you die tonight"

Mic Terror - Cold As Hell
(From YouTube; 2007/The Terror Dome Vol 2 mixtape; 2008)

In hindsight, I regret not including Cold As Hell in my best of Mic Terror playlist. Back in 2007 it was the first Mic T song to catch my ear/eye, and alongside The Cool Kids' Mikey Rocks it announced there was a new wave of suburban Chicago irregular regular-kids creating Rap music from a Back To The Future angle. Discovered Cold As Hell and Juke Them Hoes via MySpace and searching for the MP3s led me to Drew Barber's Fake Shore Drive blog. An exciting time as new avenues for discovering/obtaining Rap music opened up just as the 12" single and mixtape CD era was drawing to a close.

Mic Terror might be one of the few rappers to wear Iron Maiden merchandise who actually listens to Iron Maiden. Not sayin' that's necessarily a good thing, mind, because I've never liked Maiden, meself. Operatic vocals over widdly-widdly guitars are the antithesis of Positive K's Good Combination™. Gimme summat more primal like Motörhead instead.

(PS: it wasn't until years later that I found out Cold As Hell was a slightly revamped Timbaland production from a 2003 Skillz single. I don't even care though - in my world it'll always be a Mic Terror song.)

Ya host's been sayin' Mic Terror is Chicago's best kept secret since for years so here's yer conclusive proof in playlist form. Lord knows

"Nah, now I ain't on your level
But can I ask you a question - why you make the Devil?
Me, I wouldn't make my own enemies
And for every fatal disease I'd make remedies
Switch George W. with John F. Kennedy
He in the drop-top enjoying the weather
POW!!!
Laura Bush got brain on her sweater
I like that pic a bit better"

Mic Terror - If God Was Mic
(From the internet; 2008)

Much like Hoopty Music, If God Was Mic is an early Mic Terror song which really shoulda been a single. In a perfect universe it woulda been the If I Ruled The World of the late-MySpace/early-blog Rap era; in my universe it's a #MicTerrorHive classic. Slick Rick-level songwriting which contains multitudes and my personal favourite use the Go On And Cry loop courtesy of Gzus Piece who was a producer before he started rhyming. How much do I love this song? Like Tyson loves Cus D'Amato!

Loyal T

"No, I don't think that you dumb
But I know what I woulda done
And I don't f*ck with no n*gga that blocked me from feedin' my son"

Mic Terror - Ride
(From The Rona album; 2020)

Dramatic piano banger alert! A song about some real shit which gets real specific about one of Mic T's ex-m8s at the end of verse one. Nowadays I don't give a f*ck about gossip unless it's a stock tip, but the aforementioned part of the song is a heartfelt explanation of why Mic no longer fuxwit his longtime producer Mano. Song hits hard because it's a universal concept with a dash of anecdotal personal context.

"But we be killin' shows like haters kills hoes
Got me throwin' out flows just like blowin' my nose"

Hollywood Holt & Million $ Mano - The Show
(From the internet; 2011)

Bonus Treated Crew beats: there's a buncha Mic Terror, Gzus Piece/White Gzus songs I wish had blown up, and then there's Hollywood Holt's best song here. Sometimes the obviously corny sample is the absolutely correct sample.
