I came across this song on Instagram earlier this week and thought it was pretty cool. But my epiphany with it came yesterday when Johnny The Boxxx compared it to a 2009 Jim Jones anthem. EUREKA! The video even features a sidekick homie who looks kinda like Sen City. A baronial New York banger which deserves a club like The Tunnel. Don't get it twisted tho: the remix will be an absolute shit sandwich of the usual boring N.Y rappers-turnt-podcasters + Remy Ma.

A 20th anniversary video for one of the most anthemic album cut on Young Dro's first LP innit. I'm a fan of rappers shootin' belated music videos for a variety of reasons, the main one being that they give new leases of life to old favourites which have long since fallen out of your regular rotation. The new PJ & Duncan return with a song to make Sid James proud. Carry on droppin' more bars than Granville falling off Arkwright's stepladder while holding a box of Snickers. Speakin' of British Rappers, pour out a little O.G recipe Four Loko for Sway. Much like Gemini's Me N Da Girlz, Sway's Baby Father was one of those rare mid-ish 2000s tunes which found a cheeky sweet spot between Grime and U.K Rap. That "where's the next stop Westwood's house?" line hits different in 2026.

Whenever there's a release of shelved tracks by a 90s indie rapper, there's always one song on there which has you thinking "why on Earth did they not release this as a 12" single???" Rip It is funky enough to be a 45 King production and J.U.I.C.E could have been' rippin' stages at Scribble Jam and Scribble Jam alike with this track in the late 90s. More importantly, Rip It could have been a big choon in the racks at the Mr Bongo record shop. You disagree? Put your thoughts in park like jurassic.

Ezale - One Job

Mobby Brackins returns proper for 2026 after the Make Her Gig video and a couple of cameos. One Job only took around three weeks from initial snippet to official audio, which is the equivalent of three days in Ezale time. Pleased to report that he's consistent as ever with his ToNHTe Show-core brand of Mob Music. Ezale only got one job, to make music I can post on this blog, can't call in Sic Wit Tis in his full time job.

Related: R.I.P to Tone Capone who produced some of the greatest NorCal Rap songs of all time plus some Rap-A-Lot Records favourites. I'm gonna pick Devin's Georgy as my underrated Tone production of choice, purely because it seems like everyone except me hates that song. In fact, I think Devin himself hates that song because I once read a message board post where some guy who'd gone to see Devin live bumped into him outside the club and asked him if he was going to perform it and Devin gave him the gas face.

Another old Everlast single I hated when it was in MTV rotation which is now my choon. How I learned to stop hating and love Everlast singles: do NOT listen to them via their videos. The visualz make me sick like Strawberry Quik. Black Jesus is not so much word salad as phrase salad, but he laced this shit with one helluva tasty dressing. Where Ends sounds like the prototype for Bubba Sparxxx's Deliverance, Black Jesus sounds like what I wish the Chris Cornell of Soundgarden album produced by Timbaland had sounded like.

Haughty hoes come in all shapes and sizes like women's underwear. More Back To The Future-Rap from Atlanta's Dame of Disrespect & a couple of her coven. ATL went from Brick Squad to Chick Squad. Keep 'em comin', Bunna luv, because I can't get enough of this stuff.

That Trunk Boiz & Seiji Oda EP is like my favourite present on Christmas, it's too gifted. Here's a video for my third fave track from It. Only Northern California could devise a Rap song which combines En Vogue and Ian Paisley.

Bonus beats: the Float On sample in Go Dumb by Trunk Boiz & Seiji Oda reminded me that Aardman Animations once did an advert for Cadbury's Cream Eggs with an interpolation of that very song. One thing us Brits do particularly well is erotic TV adverts for chocolate; competition is none, we remain on top like Carol Vorderman's bum. Me? Scorpio, but I'd like to get my chops around Aquarius.
