Ya Dad's In My Business

Revenge is the sweetest joy next to gettin' Milk Marie.

"Daddy Ima do this for you
Ima find out who did that to you
Ima find out who did that to you

Daddy just put your trust in me
Don't worry about nothing
Cause I got 'em
Ima do it for you"

Rich Homie Quan - Daddy
(From the internet; 2015)

First listen: Gotdamn, this the best Rich Homie Quan solo song since Off You. Second listen: Gotdamn, this is the best daddy-tribute rap song since Nas' Poppa Was A Playa. Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth & Seventh listen: Gotdamn, this is the best rap song of 2015 already right here.

Generic list post: january 2015

2015's first round-up post of the songs I've been listening to during the month when RiFF RaFF swapped rice for 'roids on his quest to become a wrestler. Every generation gets the Scott Steiner it deserves.

The Dream ft. T.I. - That's My Shit (2015)
Mic Terror - N.W.G. (2014)
Gzus Piece - This Summer (2012)
Rae Sremmurd ft. Jace of Two-9 - Unlock The Swag (2015)
A-Wax - Goin' Yard (2015)
Fetty Wap - RGF Island (2015)
Wiz Khalifa ft. Ty Dolla $ign - Refresh/Say No More (2015)
YG - 2015 Flow (2014)
Slim 400 ft. YG & Hunnyae - On My Set remix (2014)
Lil' June - Tripp'n (2014)
Grand Puba - The More Things Change (2015)
Mr.2-17 - Marilyn Monroe (2014)
P3 & Ampichino - Innocent Youth (2015)
Lil' Chris - Finesse The Beat (2015)
Kalin And Myles - Trampoline (2014)
The Bomb Squad ft. Billy Loose Screws - Illegal Shit (1992 or 1993)
John Carpenter - Night (2015)

B.o.B & co's Graduation Camp probably would have gotten more play if the ghost of Alfamega's career hadn't put a curse on the MP3's sound quality.

Time to get laid, blow up like the World Trade

John Carpenter - Night
(From Lost Themes album; 2015)

Imagine if Night was composed as the score to that infamously cut blow-up doll scene from The Thing. Then imagine if the track was intended to accompany extreme close-up shots of Kurt Russell's gurning face as he repeatedly thrusts his todger deep within his inflatable date's rubber love-slot. Hope dude didn't cop Miss Latex Labia from Del Boy & Uncle Albert or else the scene's inevitable climax is not going to be a Sexual Eruption of the Snoop variety.

There's a lotta music on this new John Carpenter Lost Themes album which sounds ripe to be spat over. Unfortunately, you just know that Flatbush Zombies are gonna be the first rappers to have a stab at it. No shots, but I kinda wish someone would take a stab at Flatbush Zombies, Michael Myers-style.

You and I are gonna happen, that's just inevitability

Pia Mia ft. G-Eazy - Fuck With You remix
(From Fuck With You remix single; 2015)

It's a weird feeling when you find yourself edging ever closer to liking a G-Eazy solo track. The songwriting partnership of Bobby Brackins and Nic Nac has so much to answer for right now.

Internet - is there such a thing as a good G-Eazy track already? General consensus seems to indicate that this is his one semi-jam so far.

Generic list post: Unlocking The Swag-Rap edition

Travis Porter may have matured and the Rich Kidz seem to have gone weird, but melodic Atlanta Swag-Rap has been experiencing somewhat of a renaissance over the past 6 months and change. So much so that other regions have got in on the act too amidst the comebacks of Atlanta Swag-Rap pioneers, returns to the sound by former exponents of the sub-genre, and a new generation of rappers for whom Stupid Fruity Crazy Swag wasn't just an OJ Da Juiceman lyric. Here's 12 of the key songs from this current wave to keep us busy until Juney Boomdata stages a comeback.

Roscoe Dash - Shittin' (2014)
J Money & Yung L.A. - 700 Jay'z (2014)
Fetty Wap - Trap Queen (2014)
Fetty Wap - RGF Island (2015)
Young Thug - Pelican Fly (2015)
Lucci - Kno No Better (2014)
Mr.2-17 ft. The Ratchets - This And That (2014)
Mr.2-17 - Marilyn Monroe (2014)
KO The God - Invincible (2014)
OJ Da Juiceman - Whip,Skirt,Aye,Yae (2014)
Rae Sremmurd - This Could Be Us (2015)
Rae Sremmurd - Safe Sex Pay Checks (2015)

Belated thoughts on the GDFR video

Flo Rida ft. Sage The Gemini & Lookas - GDFR
(From YouTube; 2014)

What it should have been: the video which transformed Sage The Gemini into a global pop heartthrob, filmed in the song's spiritual home - a pool party in Dubai full of Ukrainian models, the offsprings of the Abu Dhabi royal family, and shitfaced British/American ex-pats working out there tax free.

What it is: a silk purse of a song turnt into a pig's ear of a video due to Flo Rida cock-blocking Sage The Gemini after Sage bodied him on his own shit. The Poor Man's Pitbull™ wasn't gonna let himself get upstaged in his own video so he insisted Sage cover himself up in a crap bucket hat & some ill-fitting Junya Wannabe shirt to deprive women & the gays of Sage treating them to The Gun Show as he did in DEV's Kiss It.

What it still could be: the one opportunity to get a Lakim Shabazz cameo appearance in a 2015 rap video since Flo Rida says "As-Salaam-Alaikum" and that horn sample caught the holy ghost of a 45 King production from Lakim's debut album. Also the one opportunity for a 2015 rap video cameo appearance by sweaty sax man Tim Capello from that scene in The Lost Boys because it's the best song to give your air-saxophone a "Toot Toot" to since I Still Believe.

As Big Jus nearly said to Jason Seagraves, reshoot that promo, homie.

Your mama say you too attached to this blog 'cause you can find the hot Lil' Chris tracks on this blog

"I'm from the city where they take your jewels
If you hide that then they might take your shoes
So you better not walk around my city with ya Mikes on
Or what? My n*ggas snakes like Pythons, Get their Vike on"

Lil' Chris - Finesse The Beat
(From the internet; 2015)

Back to the aBopalyptic-Drill of Godamn or What Money Do again for westside Chicago's Lil' Big Man? Finesse The Beat comes off more like an inverse Keep Your Head Up or Don't Shoot, yet it still hits all the same polyphonic sweet spots required from a Lil' Chris song that'll make its way into rotation here in Martorialist world.

True Martorialist world story, at a Game show late last year I was introduced to a friend of a friend who told me "Lil' Chris is the truth!" RT this post if you've ever had a conversation about Same Shit Different Day with a stranger you'd met a couple of minutes earlier.
