Reasons why I love YouTube part whatever

Ultimate Force - I'm Not Playing
(From Jazzy Jay's Cold Chillin' In The Studio Live compilation; 1989)

Who knew there was a video for Diamond D's first production AKA the de facto birth of the D.I.T.C crew, eh? One of the first Golden-Era joints to depart from the James Brown/Ultimate Breaks & Beats canon and go diggin' in them classique Blues crates instead. Highlight? Peep 1:13 for the Chuck Norris chest merkin.

That Ultimate Force album is an overlooked gem.

Always felt that Diamond D was pretty underrated when people discuss that type of producer. Stunts, Blunts & Hip-Hop is still one of the best DITC record.

that albums funny cos it's proof fat Joe is a DITC founder member

Diamomd could definitely have done with a CL or a Guru type to work with. Big L maybe?

I like the idea of Grand Puba, meself.

Big Ls album mightve sounded better anyways. Stunts Blunts & Hip Hop is a v apt title for Puba.

I've been having to listen to clean raps at work and the ego trip big playback CD (with this on it) has been very handy. (And the Ugly Duckling Taste The Secret CD. That album is good god da***t!)
Do you have any clean rap album recommendations?

Rakim never swore on wax, so any of the 4 Eric B. & Rakim albums or any of the best of Eric B. & Rakim compilations.

Sweet, that's gonna do it.

LL Cool Js first few albums are censored too. Like he cursed they're just edited, which is weird. same w Dad Efx

Dad Efx!

autocorrect truth to power

speaking of rakim, learned recently Freddie foxx, killer Ben n Supreme aren't the ppl in the paid in full posse back cover pic, that's Supreme's brother n some random lads.

Also re: migos at least Dad Efx had the decency to try n ditch the gimmick on the 2nd album

Kelvin Mack10zie said...

You know it's a different Supreme to Queens Team Supreme, right? Supreme Magnetic.

But, yeah, that's supposedly his brother Rap Magnetic in the pic, not him. I'm sure Killer Ben is in the pic, but the guy everyone thought was Freddie Foxx is supposedly Ant Live.

D said...

Ah no way FFS I'd this lineage in my head w 50/jmj etc. Makes sense though now u mention it, ppl do say Fort Greene re him.

Didn't listen to it but someone had rakim go over the pic on a podcast n supposedly he specified ant lives not there. "aj from brooklyn" is either the ant/freddie dude or killer ben, who didn't get mentioned.

Kelvin Mack10zie said...

The kid in the Microphone Fiend video is Supreme Magnetic's bairn apparently.

That delinquent inspired Lloyd banks to start rapping snh

I always thought Master Rob was a bit pants. Diamond is a better rapper on the strength of saying 'holy mackeral' on a rap song.
