Rap songs that aren't on YouTube but really should be # 15

Back in the 80s, Schoolly D recorded 3 separate songs all with the title Gangster Boogie: there's his middling electro-rap debut single from 1984, Gangster Boogie II from his mediocre 1988 LP Smoke Some Kill, and Gangster Boogie from his 1989 magnum opus Am I Black Enough For You?. Naturally it's the best song of the trilogy that you can't currently find on YouTube... or any other streaming service for that matter - them crackas still aren't playin' fair at Jive!

Schoolly D - Gangster Boogie
(From Am I Black Enough For You? album; 1989)

If Vine had existed in 1990, Gangster Boogie probably woulda been the soundtrack to hundreds of clips where people reenacted scenes from King Of New York. 1:03 to 1:29 gotta be a prime backing track for your best Jimmy Jump strut to.

I very much regret not making a post about how that terrible Pussy Overrated track by Future & Wiz was just an arsehurt retread of Schoolly's Pussy Ain't Nothin' minus any of that song's wit.

Schooly D's kinda overlooked as far as golden age rappers go besides PSK no one really talks about his music a whole lot

I feel the same way about Schoolly D as I do about Too Short and Above The Law. Yes he's a pioneer who did stuff first but a lot of people soon did a lot better. I guess you had to have been there because, obvious songs aside, Schoolly D's catalogue has aged about as well as a carton of school milk left on the radiator. First is not necessarily best.

Schoolly and Too $hort both did their best work a fair few years into their respective careers tho.

Schooly $hort & ATL are all in my top 10-15 of all time list i guess warm school milk isn't so bad

Never trust anyone who doesn't like Saturday Night, The Ghetto, and Murder Rap.
