I Cudi Been A Contender!

Kid Cudi - Maui Wowie
(From A Kid Called Cudi mixtape; 2008)

After the ridiculousness of Jim Jones claiming he's responsible for Kid Cudi's Day 'n' Nite blowing up, Cudi is entitled to whip up a viral duck tale of his own. So lemme suggest this: he should claim that his beatjack of Grind Mode's She's So Fine (I'm So High) is responsible for the original blowing up. Who cares about posting the truth anymore in the post-truth era? That's one of the two Cudi songs I fuxwit because the kid accidentally took a trip offshore on the wave on that shit. His music got wiped out totally afterwards, but Maui Wowie is a notable entry in the canon of Shinola Songs By Shitty Rappers.

I feel like I was the only person who rode for the Jim Jones & Statik Selektah single last year. For those of us who enjoy Jones at his most ridiculous when he's putting the Cap into Capo, that song was an absolute treat. There was no better piece of unintentional comedy in a 2025 Rap song than when Jones said "I been in court, the DA's looking like he seen Gotti" on that shit.

Late pass!

Three Below Zero AKA MOOD - Mr. Everything
(From Unreleased 93 - 95 EP; 2016)

I've heard a few of the unreleased mid 90s songs MOOD recorded as Three Below Zero but I'd never heard this one. And this one has gotta be a top 3 song they ever recorded. Some black belt in rap hands judo Boom-Bap to make you walk with a bop. What we're they thinking not releasing this shit back in the 90s?

Still active upload to the unreleased songs EP can be found on this blog.

Dirt don't hurt

Solemn Brigham - Dirty Whip
(From South Sinner Street album; 2021)

Solemn Brigham clearly ain't a subscriber to the Lil' Fame "with my chrome 10 inch hubcaps, but I keep 'em clean tho" philosophy. Swear this song keeps following me around, but I ain't complaining since it Hits Different™. Dirty Whip's appeal? Shit's a capital A piano Anthem from the Mello Music Group which sounds like it could be from a new Maybach Music Group compilation. The first song from Mello Music Group's roster which has potential for a viral challenge or wot?

Bonus beats: ex-Maybach Music Group affiliate Stalley now dropping music on Mello Music Group makes the cipher complete. Stalley was the O.G J. Cole in terms of "he's so boring that...." jokes, but I'm a big fan of Cup Inside A Cup meself. Shit was like a millennial MF Grimm Cloud-Rap song.
