Keep it real, get ya own shit, and be original. Here's some O.G versions which are categorically better than the official versions. Some of these came out billed as remixes but believe me plz they're the original mixes. Envisioned this playlist would be 20 jams deep, but there's some songs Audiomack just won't accept such as Martorialist classics like the original mixes of The Click's Daily Routine, Jackie Chain & Jhi Ali's Rollin', ABN's The Rain and Beeda Weeda & DJ Fresh's Bass Rock Babies Talk about a bummer in the summer eh?

O.G version of Ghostface's The Champ is better than the album version.

Absolutely.

Speaking of Ghost, there's also the vastly superior original Ghost Deini which got switched up for the U.S release of Supreme Clientele. Thankfully we got the original version on the U.K release of the album.

Never heard the original version of Ghost Deini so thanks for that shout.

Slightly frustrated by failed conversions trying to get heads to appreciate A Fool over How Ya Do That, which is a fine enough song in itself. How Ya Do That sounds so sterile compared to the OG that even Master P couldn't save it with his gruff hook.

Yeah, How Ya Do That is a classic single, but A Fool is just superior and the definitive version. I heard the former first, but once I heard the latter, that was it. Rarely listened to How Ya Do That since.

Keeping it Wu, got to admit I was kind of gutted the original version of Labels wasn't on Liquid Swords. Still love the album, regardless.

Westwood classic.

the original version of Pete rock's strange fruit with more and drag > the version that ended up on the album with cappadonna and sticky fingaz

I'd not heard that before. Definitely more to my taste.

Great one, would love a zip of that :-)

Speaking of Ghostface and Flowers, there's some sort of "Advance version" of Bulletproof Wallers out there, where the albums has a whole different vibe from the one that got released. I downloaded it from this blog, where you can also read more about the different alterations:

The link is long dead but I can upload it if anyone wants.

Fortunately, the cut tracks like The Sun, The Watch, the O.G mix of Flowers, and Good Times dropped on 12" around the same time, and there was an EP with all the tracks together a couple of years later. I definitely listened to them more than I ever listened to my CD copy of the album.

Yeah do that

Came across the original version of D-Lo's "No Hoe" today - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bH6sbrgdR4

Very rough version which apparently made the rounds back in 2008. I think I like the album version better because it slaps harder but always fun to hear the original conception of a song you like.

That was the version which blew up on MySpace. Re-recorded is much better innit.
