Rap songs that aren't on YouTube but really should be # 19

The song up for consideration: a Team deep cut from the same 2004 Richie Rich compilation J. Stalin's first solo slaps come from. The reasons this shit should be on YouTube for the world to stream: because it's one of the hardest quacks in the Team's catalogue, and it's the group's only track which sounds as comfy next to Fabolous' Can't Let You Go remix as it does to Mac Dre's Me Damac.

"Back to back, double cars
See me out with double R
Lookin' for that redbone, push-up bubble bra"

The Team - Gangster's Talkin'
(From Richie Rich's Grabs, Snatches & Takes compilation; 2004)

The postscript: did you know that The Team's rare 2002 debut album Beyond The Glory featured cameos from Nas and Loon? A feat that's all the more impressive since even Kay Slay's first compilation album from 2003 couldn't quite pull that trick off. Alas, neither track can currently be found on the 'Tube either - a huge pity because it's hilarious that Nas appeared on a song with yung Clyde Carson at the peak of his beef with lcd club-bangeur rap.

wut I never heard of this Team album? extra confused cos what I thought was their 2nd album was kinda a remake of what I thought was their first and had the word "premiere" in the title.

You ever check for Ameries other albums btw? never rly thought of it til now, that Rex Harrison shit went hard.

Beyond The Glory got re released as The Preseason but that's equally rare and fairly Google proof. Never heard any of Amerie's albums

I just imagine Amerie's albums to sound like less good versions of Why Don't We Fall In Love or 1 Thing.

"Can't Let You Go" remix is Fab's best song

Does anyone happen to have a link for the Team's Beyond the Glory album?

Kelvin Mack10zie said...

I've never been able to find it.

If the song with Nate Dogg is anything to go by, the album might not be worth hearing.

^ Too bad. I've been trying to locate a digital version for a while now, haven't succeeded yet and I doubt I ever will.

Kinda cool an album can be so elusive that its Amazon + AllMusic pages and a 2005 message board thread on Siccness are the only proof of its existence.

while on the subject of siccness, anyone remember downloading .wma previews from westcoast2k back when they were on cjb and even angelfire?

https://web.archive.org/web/20030215111137/http://www.westcoast2k.net/

you know you're in deep when you're reading siccness posts from 2003 asking about what happened to an angelfire site's "rare songz" page

I seen one of their early CDs in the dollarbin at the berkeley Amoeba back in the day, but didnt grab it. cant remember which one, but it pre-dated 'Negro League'.

but those "big name features" from then were actually all just bootleg remixes of obscure tracks.
the Nate Dogg was jacked from this Shade Shiest track right here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugIMwdrM4Ug

the Nas track was this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFaIGZ7q62c
the Circuit City version of Nastradamus came with bonus track 'Hustlers & Killers' in Dirty/Radio/Instrumental, so they just mixed themselves on to it with the instrumental

Kelvin Mack10zie said...

No frigging way! Damn.

I guess the track with Loon was probably just a jack of this then?

Lot of the greats are there, from fridges getting dropped to Suge's "95% of rappers are closet cases"

Aptly titled channel.

I hate to be Mr Boring, but why not start a YouTube channel of your own for all of these 'Why aren't these on YouTube' posts?

HUH?

Too much hassle/effort to convert MP3s into YouTube files.

Some of them have been removed from YouTube, whereas Audiomack is currently more lawless.

Uploading them to Audiomack lets ppl download the MP3s.

Mr I stand corrected said...

Fair enough. It isn't THAT hard converting to YouTube though.

Here's one I put up inspired by your blog

The Team has some bizarrely hard to find stuff. I have a mixtape called "Fourth and Goal," I'm not sure where or when I got it (2007? 2006?), and the only google hit i'm getting with any content is a Hungarian blogspot tape-upload situation from 2007 so idk I give up. World Premiere still classic tho.

just here to say that Amerie's first album is a bonafide classic.
