Generic list post: back to the ice grillz again 1.5

Another list of great rap songs by unfashionable New York rappers, this time consisting of tracks from the last 5 years. You can keep Hot N*gga and you can stick A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, Action Bronson and Azealia Banks up your arse as far as they'll fit. Me, I've spent the past half-decade in the company of these tunes instead:

A.G - Infected (2010)
Black Rob - Up North, This Is What It Is (2010)
Mysonne - In Jail (2011)
Ike Eyes - Blue Roxies (2011)
A-Mafia - Story Of My Life (2012)
Troy Ave - I Know Why You Mad (2012)
AZ - We Movin' (2013)
Agallah ft. Roc Marciano - Blaze Of Glory (2013)
J-Zone - Crib Issues (2013)
Uncle Murda ft. Rocko - Wu Wuu Wuuu (2013)
Kurious Jorge - Best In The World (2014)
Homeboy Sandman ft. J. Live & Kurious Jorge - Enough (2014)
JuJu ft. Tragedy Khadafi - Thriller (2014)
Psycho Les ft. Royal Flush, Tragedy Khadafi & Illa Ghee - Thunder Bells (2014)
Fabolous - Lituation (2014)

I'm sorta suprised A-Mafia isn't bigger than he is given his dipset affiliation and if you can make French Montana marketable you can make anybody marketable.

French has an ear for melody/hooks and a knack of making good dancefloor records outta 90s minor-classic deep cuts.

Mafia is just straight up NY henchman rap.

Fair to say i guess French being able to channel his inner wave works in his favor cause he can't rap for shit

All the great Roc Marci records and that's the one you choose?

It's not a Roc Marciano song; it's an Agallah song Roc appears on where Ag' managed to outdo him with his own style: "eatin' crustaceans with Azns talkin' flagrant/somethin' outta The Matrix if you don't make payments!"

Roc is too trendy for this list since he's a critical darling of sorts, whereas Agallah is an unfashionable hall of famer.

brytburken just compared French to Berner to me there and it actually holds up on paper

still though French has an awkward voice & flow thats always been charming to me and Berner has an awkward voice & flow that reminds me of one of AJ Sopranos voyeur hangers on. hes kinda like Gervais, Ive learned to half tune him out to get to the Pilkington

hes kinda growing on me tbh like a lump Im scared to get checked

Love this series. We live in a strange time where NYC rap is underrepresented.

I like Berner a lot within the context of the Drought Season albums.

Just loathe him in every other capacity.

half agree, after hearing Trafficking without him for a while now the ogs definitely the definitive version

That Homeboy Sandman song personifies everything that the CRC is fighting against.
