R.I.P Sage & IamSu just killed the wub-wub

Question: what do you get if you cross Bay Area ratchet with those Predator's malfunctioning helmet type sub bass blurps & splurts last heard in rap on Blood Money & King Louie's Bitch I'm Crazy?

Answer: my second favourite song on Sage The Gemini's album after Red Nose!

"All I hit is c-notes, no Auto-Tune"

Sage The Gemini ft. IamSu - Nothing To Me
(From Remember Me album; 2014)

How long until IamSu finally snaps and goes nutso on LoveRance and Sage The Gemini because they've scored legitimate hits and he hasn't?

If P-Lo learned how to stop rehashing old Mannie Fresh gimmicks and Suzy knew how to use more than one Rhodes preset, maybe they'd do as well as Sage.

"Up!" is a fluke strictly due to the beat and YG fast-tracking it for a period of time.

...and the hook.

I think I might prefer Bad Girls to this now, tbh.

That's pretty fucking rich coming from the lad who once lumped a vast array of rappers of varying styles into the category of "regional thugs", and who was also responsible for editing 2013's most #problematic and exploitative piece of journalism where one of his irl buddies pretended to be a junkie so he could hang out with poor ethnic people in southside Chicago and pester them with questions about Citgo.

Also, I definitely prefer Bad Girls to this song now.

Daily reminder Soderberg listens to Burzum.

CrowleyHead said...

It could always be worse.

And I hope Bad Girls becomes the single just because of those synths.

I'm really stressed out that "Nothing To Me" just features way too many Iamsu verses and the Kool John appearance gets wasted on pure basura like "College Drop".

Do you mean the noisey documentary? I never even watched it tbh.

Or at least not all 8 parts. Its gonna be a let down after the canadian dude calling ppl "prods" in the middle of an orange order march and saying he was "in britain" while standing next to ex provos anyways.

Makes sense that a guy like Soderberg who thinks all azns look "nebulously ethnic" would be a fan of Burzum.

Crowley, the most worrying aspect about Sage's album for me is Berner managing to sneak his way onto it. Berner truly elevated the art of weed-carrying by being the dealer who sold the rappers their weed in the first place and then wormed his way into a career in exchange for free weed/discounts.

Donal, I'm referring to this jawdropping piece which Brendan Rodgersberg "edited".

Oh Vice. How you can't get it together.

And I kind of forgot the Berner verses happen, mostly because they're on songs that aren't really worth remembering. Paying The Bizness for beats in 2014 is kind of like sticking with AIM as a communication device.

There is zero chance that Brandon has ever read any Oscar Wilde.

Kelvin Mack10zie said...

If there's anyone I want to see talking about Oscar Wilde, it's a dumb American stoner who reads comic books.

Soderberg getting sonned by Kevin Powell a few weeks back was pretty hilarious.

Brandon's lack of self awareness is pretty staggering.
