I post like fluid, got no choice but to do it. In it to win it, my blog layout is tinted. Presence is there, talents is rare, tellin' how I post, how I comb and share. My style is mobile, name is global, speak of Marty then say the boi he's noble. For years I trained and Rap music I probed, just to put sumfin' funky in ya earlobe. Nef The Pharaoh is a very inconsistent artist, but when he gets it right he's one of the more unique NorCal rappers of the last decade. Here at The Martorialist we call his sound Thizz Khalifa because he mixes early 2000s Mac Dre with early 2010s Wiz Khalifa. 1. One of the handful of tracks Spoonie Gee & Marley Marl recorded together. Some seats-pushed-back Rap for 1987 Audi coupes AND 1987 Skoda hoopes. The first Rap song to use the Ohio Players sample later made famous by Mary J. Blige & Grand Puba's What's The 411?.

2. Of course every Mac Dre maven knows and loves Mac Dre's The Name. But because it's never appeared on any of his albums and never made it to DSPs the song has been overlooked by everyone else. We can't have that because that Vaughan Mason sample is the reason why it's the one Mac Dre song every boomer-bap dinosaur can't front on.

3. A true Kazaa klassic: the Dr. Dre track from the advance version of Devin The Dude's second album which vanished from the retail version. **DJ Kay Slay voice** ONLY DEVIN COULDA DONE SMUT LIKE THIS, YO!!!

4. The best song Dru Down recorded in the 2000s: some Slapp & Roger-core which Suga Free coulda/shoulda guested on.

5. It's a pity most folks TREE fandom begins with Sunday School because his earlier releases are stuffed with gems. Take The 3rd Floor here which is both my personal highlight of TREE's first LP and the birth of his Soul-Trap sound.

6. The last Gucci Mane song I truly loved: one of the final and finest examples of tubby wildman Gucci, taken from a peak Livemixtapes-era Zayyoten compilation. True story: Gucci's Ric Flair "WOOOOO"s on this body every wrestling reference by Action Bronson and all those charmless Griselda nerks.

7. I'd pretty much given up on Max B's new music after his awful Wave Gods and House Money tapes. And then he reconnected with Dame Grease for this song tucked away on his best of Wave Pack album and Biggavelz was back like he left his car keys. Max mania like it's 2009 all over again.

8. A good example of a nostalgia-bait beatjack which I prefer to the song it begets: Nef The Pharoah's blappification of Da Brat & Tyrese's What'Chu Like. Also a good example of how the Kid Cuddy Nef is an old soul in a new Rapper's body.

First there's Edan Deep Cuts which is a buncha songs taken from his 12" and 7" singles. Big fan of how Edan created his own little musical universe by combining Percee P's Lung Collapsing Lyrics with the Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique.

Then there's The Best of Seiji Oda which collated sixteen songs he'd dropped over the past two years before anyone on the Rap Internet was paying attention. Seiji's music has been a cool breeze of fresh air for me in this current era of Yaseo The Ruler boring NorCal Rap.

There's Eatem's Greatest Pressure which is a compilation of his best singles from 2016 to 2022. I like to think of Eatem as Baton Rouge's equivalent of Duke Deuce.

Then there's N.Y Twelves Quinary Of Quality which consists of five personal classic 12" songs by Phil Blunts, Consequence, Blahzay Blahzay, B-1 & Large Professor, and Ayatollah with Rakim.

There's Nef The Pharoah's Quinary Of Quality which is my top five songs by him from the past two years. Still a big fan of his Thizz Khalifa sound when he gets it right.

Then there's Mac Dre & Khayree's 1996 - 1998 Sure Slaps which collects the best songs they recorded during that period before they fell out. Probably the best playlist of the bunch because Dre & Khayree were one of the greatest rapper/producer combinations of the 1990s.

There's 2022 Club-Rap Quinary Of Quality featuring songs by 2Rare, Asian Doll & Bandmanrill, D4M $loan, Kenzo B, and Cookiee Kawaii. 110 BPM the minimum here.

Then finally there's the 2022 NorCal Quinary Of Quality featuring songs by Young Jr, Ezale, P-Lo & Larry June, Stunnaman02 & Lil' Kayla, and A-Wax.

There's a Homeboy Sandman 2022 Quinary Of Quality featuring my top 5 songs by him from the past 12 months.

Born To Audiomack: Mac Dre & Khayree 1996 to 1998 Sure Slaps

Mac Dre was ALL THAT and for most of the 90s his producer Khayree had his back. After Dre was released from a 4 year stint in prison in 1996, him and Khayree got back 2 their mission of recording great Rap music together. Alas, they fell out over money in 1998 having only released a handful of their tracks together during this period. Over the years Khayree has dropped all their unreleased songs from this era on various compilations, so here's a plalist of their best 1996 to 1998 songs. The proverbial Good Combination of thoughtful Dre and thorough Dre, all backed by peak Khayree production. Honk at a hutch with some conscious mob music from the Crestside.

Whoa na. For O.G members of #NefHive, Old Enough is the grown-up Come Pick Me Up - an introspective victory lap of a song. Nef The Pharoah is very hit and miss, but when he's on form he's a billion times better than all those dullard Yaseo The Ruler-core rappers who've been popular up Northern California the past couple of years. Here's proof in the form of a playlist: Nef's top five slaps from 2020 to 2022.

When he's not reactivating banned Instagram accounts for the likes of Boosie, NBA Youngboy, WNC Whop Bezzy and OMB Peezy, Eatem is out here making some of the best Baton Rouge Rap music of recent times. For doz who've slept: Eatem looks like Percy Tragedy and makes fun rowdy southern anthems in the vein of Treal Lee & Prince Rick. He fits into the current Rap game as Baton Rouge's equivalent of Duke Deuce, but with different angles to his bangers like triangle isosceles. I woke up screaming "FORK THE WORLD" and decided to compile my favourite Eatem singles into a playlist, starting with 2016's Trophy and ending with his latest single Magical. Life is a Big Mac and bloggas come up and say "you did that?" So, chow down with me - everybody eats, B.

Remember that Seiji Oda breh from a couple of posts ago? His music has proper popped out with the Snagglepuss knock and made me drop my croissant, so I've compiled a playlist of his best songs. Sometimes he sounds like a Japanese Kap G who took it to the Bay; sometimes he sounds like a Slap-Tranquilo P-Lo; sometimes he sounds like Valee if his main artistic inspiration was Mac Dre's Off The Rictor; and sometimes he sounds like an R&Based version of Japanese City-Pop. Somehow it all works and, more importantly, it all works together as this playlist proves. Shout out to the Cosmos, Seiji is beyond tho.

Surprised myself by how much I like his sangy Auto-Tune songs. The reason they work for me is that they're very warm and fuzzy and are still distinctly Oakland. No Fillins, for instance, is dreamy R&B which interpolates Cupcake No Fillin by the Trunk Boiz. Told you that Seiji has unexpected depth like a Japanese bathtub.

The super scientific smart-arse Jewish Percee P with scatological jokes - not a particularly tempting notion on paper, but Edan's music is undoubtedly thee dookie when banging through ya speaker. Edan found his niche in Rap's ecology with top quality even though so many of his best songs weren't included on either of his official albums, so I've made a compilation of my personal favourites. Effortless emphasis on the retro-futurist auteur tip, this playlist is designed to piss on a pessimist. Basically, don't front on the Portnoy!

The good news: browsing the 'net before and I noticed that Top Shelf 8/8/88 is now available on all digital retail/streaming platforms. The bad news: the entire compilation has been remixed with new beats which sound like they belong on a DJ Format album. Here at The Martorialist we do not approve of such tinkering with history, so here's the original 2007 version for your streamable pleasure. The songs by Black Sheep, Biz Markie, MC Lyte, Grand Puba, Smooth B, Special Ed, Melle Mel & Grandmaster Caz and Master Ace are all legit choons, with Ace's song being more bittersweet than ever right now.

Well, this explains why Uptown's-Mr-Outta-Town A-Mafia hasn't dropped any new songs in the last 4 years - he's been too busy movin' mountains of beak in the outskirt cities of New York state.
