5th Ward Breezie

OnlyHeaven - Text
(From KISS (Keep It Short & Sweet) EP; 2025)

I'm like Heaven, everybody wanna get to me; how'd I make it to three posts without realising OnlyHeaven is the reincarnation of 5th Ward Weebie? The chromosomes might be different, but the characteristics are the same: a short, tubby New Orleans rapper who makes expertly crafted Bounce music which is both very funny and very smutty. For me, Text is the best song on OnlyHeaven's recent EP: a risqué R&Bounce jam with a Can't You See interpolation which will have you shouting "BABY, BABY!" Let me find out this song is a beast, heard it's been killin' my speakers, rest in peace to the deceased.

NOLA Girl

Supahbadd - I Am
(From I Am single; 2024/YouTube; 2025)

Most effective interpolation of Estelle's American Boy since Max B or wot? I came across this shit in YouTube's recommendations on OnlyHeaven's In Here video a while back, and in a perfect circle of life, OnlyHeaven claimed that Supahbadd was a big influence on her when Johnny The Boxxx interviewed her a week or so later. I've since gone through Supahbadd's back catalogue and come to the conclusion that I Am is the best song she's ever recorded. Bonzer R&Bounce that's as rowdy as it is bawdy. She'll rule your dong with her iron can, Supah Pum-Pum AKA Filthy Triggawoman.

Shout out to the YouTube algorithm for also recommending me I Need A Hot Boy by Tha Hot Girls. Nice to see BlaqNmilD is still out here producing even tho 5th Ward Weebie is gone. BlaqNmilD was also behind Maine Musik's Social Media Thuggin' AKA the greatest Foxx song not actually recorded by Foxx.

I post like fluid, got no choice but to do it. In it to win it, my blog layout is tinted. Presence is there, talents is rare, tellin' how I post, how I comb and share. My style is mobile, name is global, speak of Marty then say the boi he's noble. For years I trained and Rap music I probed, just to put sumfin' funky in ya earlobe. I'm causin' a frenzy inside ya Benzey, radio DJs is green with envy. But that's not my style, I'm just too kind, I repeat that line like an Auld Lang Syne. May old acquaintances be forgotten, I think that's just as well because some bloggers were rotten. I keep it positive and add some derogative, with a lot to take and a helluva lot to give. Readers... I know ya feelin' kinda right, press play on this shit because tonight's ya night.

Basically, I was browsing my Audiomack the other day and decided that I should make a playlist of Martorialist Classics™. 30 Rap songs spanning time between 1982 and 2022. I've posted about all these songs over the years so now I'm gonna let the music do the talking. I swept the 'mack with no broom, improvement needed? No room.

Some of us blokes are thotz 2

"Gettin' head in a black Mini Cooper
She in love with a savage - Winnie Cooper"

Mic Terror ft. Gzus Piece - Thot Boyz
(From Thot Boyz single; 2021)

One of the best things about Midwest Rap is that it isn't beholden to myopic home-state bias and so all sorts of regional influences abound. Thus, you get Chicago rappers like Mic Tre & Geazy-P combining two New Orleans classics by 5th Ward Weebie and the Hot Boys on the SAME DAMN SONG! The moral of Thot Boyz? What happens in the summer, stays in the summer.

Let me find out you thought this was EPMD!

CeeFineAss ft. MoneyBagg Yo - Payback 2.0
(From Welcome To My City album; 2020/YouTube; 2021)

Very rare modern instance of a remix ya host prefers to the original. Nothing to do with the presence of MoneyBagg Yo, everything to do with the More Ounce To The Bounce pressure lettin' Miss Cee go full 69th Ward Ceebie.

(Actually, that's a tad unfair to MoneyBagg Yo since "bring your luggage and your phone but no feelings in here" is a great line on the hotel, motel, Holiday Inn tip.)

R.I.P 5th Ward Weebie

5th Ward Weebie ft. Wild Wayne & Trombone Shorty - Drop It How Ya Feel It
(From Soundcloud; 2018)

Let me find out that the internet is bullshitting with the news of 5th Ward Weebie's death. That man kept Bounce alive when Bounce had taken a dive, made music which sounded like Mardi Gras in Magnolia Projects, and was responsible for some of the only non-corny Real Instruments Rap™ of this past decade. Most importantly, Weebie owned the G.O.A.T Louisiana-sounding Louisiana Rap song:

5th Ward Weebie - Supa Sunday In N.O
(From Da Unexpected album; 2003)

Rest in peace lil' big man. I hope Heaven got more pop-up Seafood Gumbo restaurants you can open up with your royalties from Audrey's Nice For What.
