Nef The Not Fairoh

"If you ain't from the Yay then I'm over n*ggas heads
Bitches askin' Siri 'bout some shit that Chang said"

Nef The Pharaoh - Essence
(From Essence single; 2024)

I ain't from the Yay so I'll tell you what's over my head: why Nef's Essence loosie from a few months back is better than anything on his Vallejo Playa album which dropped this past friday. When Nef says "I'll do a song and won't ever send the session, I don't want your engineer f**kin' up my essence" I feel like he's mocking me because he's never dropped that song with Mannie Fresh he teased on Instagram back in 2016. The snippet has long since been deleted, but that shit sounded exactly how a Mannie Nef song should sound. Call that shit Simon Cowell because it's never coming out.

Ain't no tellin' what the bitch will do, I was all on her face like barbecue

I'm not happy unless I'm fiendin' for an Ezale song which only exists in snippet form, so this shit is Marty Python's latest holy grail. I'm still having a blast with Fun and Do It All Night, but good things come in threes like a certain John Landis movie. What's the odds on this actually dropping in 2024?

Bonus beats: Mac God Dbo's A Whole Brick is my pick for NorCal rando slap-tremendo of 2024 thus far. Will I ever like another song by that guy? Who knows, but I really like that song tho.

Mobby-Dick

Ezale teasers got me feelin' like Captain Ahab in pursuit of his killa whale with a heavy tail. If the Pol Pot of Pill Popping-Rap™ isn't gonna drop that fun, fun, fun song yet then I'll gladly take this one instead. It's been a dry January for new Rap music which tickles ya boi's taste buds and Ezale snippets are the ultimate Martorialist thirst-trap. Let's get the Legit Slapz overflowing like a village pub's hanging baskets.

My Mind Spray 12.5

Ezale still hasn't dropped a song in 2023 despite teasing a handful of snippets over the last 12 months. Me, I'm fiendin' for that fun, fun, fun song from the Mike Tyson video. Will he drop it before the year ends? Let's find out.

It's unfortunate that 80% of Hip-Hop fans couldn't care less about 80s Rap. But it's even more unfortunate than most of the Hip-Hop fans who do care about 80s Rap are those irritating raer vinylz blokes who don't listen to anything made before 1986. I'll never take "REAL HIP-HOP" chatter serious from self-styled 80s experts who don't know their Errol "Pumpkin" Bedward from their Egyptian Lover.

My faith in the British public was somewhat restored when J Hus & Drake's Who Told You didn't become the MONSTER ANTHEM everyone expected. You can fool Drake fans 99% of the time, but even the plebs who listen to That Canadian Nonce™ agreed that his appalling/rambling verse completely ruined the song.

It'd be cool if Special Ed's current viral talking-head status caused one of his old songs to blow up. Ideally it would be the Freaky Flow remix because it's a top two Primo remix ever and "get on my nerves like pets" is one of the realest lines ever committed to music.

Did Big Choo ever drop his revamp of Dolamite's Hustlas? I genuinely don't know because that fat bastard blocked me on Instagram when I asked him why he kept posting teaser videos for the song for 3 years straight but would never drop it. Even the song's producer Blaza Da Beat Contractor was getting pissed off with Choo and then died before Choo dropped it.

Taxi for Nef The Pharoah

Now I feel bad for wanting Nef to drop. Alexa, play No Gravity by Cousin Fik. Here at The Martorialist we pay homage, but h8erz say "Nef fell off!" How, blogga - his last single was What Do You Like.

Mighty Mike Thai Son

New Ezale snippet video featuring Nump and... Mike Tyson!? Can't wait until he drops this song, probably 3 years from now. Riddle me this, Blapman - how come it's the Bay Area's AZN rappers like Ezale, P-Lo and Seiji Oda who are putting the most fun into Function Music™ nowadays?

Hits from the Bong

Laa Lee ft. Christale - Bong Bing
(From Bong Bing single; 2022)

Talk about So International - a Jamaican lad and a London lass make an Afro-Bashment choon that's big with dancers on social media. Never would have guessed Christale is the Militant girl because she sounds so different here freed from the constraints of that stupid U.K Drill flow.

And in completely unrelated news, here's a brand new Ezale snippet. Word around (Funk)town, this song and Hotel Motel are dropping together on Nevuary 1st.

**EDIT** oh Ezale dropped Ironic.

Generic list post: September 2021

Obligatory wrap-up post of those songs I've played most during the month when The Rock was spotted driving around listening to Giggs' Talking The Hardest. Talk about "all gassed up now Ima slang me a rock" eh?

Max B - Bang Bang Boogie (2006)
Young Stoka - Dope Man Swagg (2011)
Eatem - Go Get Yo F*ckin' Brotha (video) (2021)
AZ ft. Keffa - Keep It Real (2021)
Mic Terror - OJ Simpson (2021)
Megan Thee Stallion - Thot Shit (2021)
Cootie & BiC Fizzle - Supafly (2021)
Jenevieve - Exit Wounds (2021)
The Freeze - I'm Too Good For You (1982/1997)
Olivia Rodrigo - Brutal (2021)

Other notables: impatiently waiting for Ezale's Hotel Motel; Mozzy's homage to Messy Marv's Tycoonin' is very welcome around these parts; Duke Deuce's WTF is cool but I'm waiting on his Lock 'Em In The Trunk remake meself.

Feel a bit noncey enjoying an Olivia Rodrigo song, but Brutal cranks way harder than any of the new Rock shit currently on rotation on KerrangTV dunnit? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sweet '16

Fall back, Cleanhobo - there's a new bellhop in (Funk)town. Feel like I'm back in 2016 again the way I'm rewindin' Ezale teaser videos. Maybe we'll finally get that Cold Game Chronicles song which was the one with the long-deleted video teaser of Ezale climbing up the abandoned apartment complex. He really thinks that he's Tom Cruise foreal foreal.

Wax on, piss off

A buncha unreleased peak-era Casual songs? YAY! A 'vinyl driven release'? NAY!

Limited edition boutique Rap records are for Hypebeast teenagers on Instagram and middle-aged men who'd be stamp collectors or model railway enthusiasts if they'd never discovered Hip-Hop. Wax is a vastly-overrated format anyway - I give 12" singles their props but that's where it stops because vinyl has always been a useless format for Rap albums. Picture me paying money for an album on a format I can't play in a car or I can't even program out all the stupid skits about farts and blowjobs? GTFOH and take your pleas for crowd funding with you, m8.

Someone tell Dante he can keep the song with Everlast, though. I dunno what if it's Plastic Paddy-era Everlast or Wooden Guthrie-era Everlast but ain't nobody wanna hear any incarnation of that guy on a 90's Casual song.

28 'Grams

Two years later Big Choo is STILL posting snippets from his remake of Dolamite's Hustlas that he STILL hasn't dropped. I'm about to fly to Louisiana and pay a crackhead to run up on Choo and give him a Chinese burn every day until he releases this damn song.

Just checking Choo's Instagram story and he's now teasing a Bounce remake of Tove Lo's Bork-House classic Habits (Stay High). FFS, I swear this fella was put on Earth to personally Bop-tease me. Lookin' forward to that shit droppin' on Nevuary 1st.

Styles By The 'Gram Part Whateva Man

Sounds like Carlos' best song since Wake Me Up, right? I don't even like Sauce Walka usually but this is on my most anticipated songs of early 2019 list alongside this Rich Blue shit and that Eat Em shit.

Forgive them, Father, for they have Peter Panned on your turf:

On one hand, this sounds like it might be Baton Rouge's first Legit Jam™ of 2019.

On the other hand, no song can possibly live up to this teaser video.

Lodi Dodi & Diana™

The Rich Blue song I'm waitin' for now has an even better teaser video that's a genuine world's are colliding moment. In Westminster one drinks tea or gin, brah.

No Bounce To The Ounce

This motherfucker Big Choo is literally taunting me by still regularly posting snippets of that song he first teased in february 2017. New term for rappers who constantly preview songs but never drop 'em: Bop-Teases™.

Small Tymin'

Nef The Pharaoh really overachieved in 2015, huh? That's the polite way of saying his The Big Chang Theory album is neither good nor bad just lacking any of the spark which made his debut EP + the various loosies surrounding it so good. At least his fellow Sic Wid It signee OMB Peezy's album has one undeniable song; the only real slap Nef has in 2018 is Ball Out from his EP with 03 Greedo which only features 30 seconds of his vocals even though he clearly orchestrated the song.

Nef The Pharaoh & 03 Greedo ft. ALLBLACK - Ball Out
(From Porter 2 Grape EP; 2018)

Neffy got needs wings (no Claire Rayner!) Fly, Nefidelaphante, fly, and tell Mannie Fresh to drop your song with him already.

Rich Blue ate my hamster

"I'm a Soviet, I don't give a fuck
In the Soviets we drink vodka, brah"

Sublime marriage of music and moving image or wot? This upcoming song by the Hands Hands guy is a new entry in the Martorialist canon of potentially-killer songs from the past few years which only exist in snippet form currently. The others?

Foxx & Boosie - Untitled (2015)
Ezale - Cold Game Chronicles (2016)
Mannie Fresh & Nef The Pharoah - Untitled (2017)
Ya Boy Big Choo - Hustla (Remix) (2017)
70th Street Carlos - On Me (2018)

BTW, that's yer allotment from Si Mane Price. New name: Kelvin Mack10zie.

File this teaser alongside this teaser under ‘70th Street Carlos Instagram snippets which just need to drop already!’ It's Da Drought forreal out here for new Rap right now, and here at The Martorialist we're tryna be in that water like Robert Maxwell.

Because this site wouldn't be The Martorialist without ya host complaining that some song which exists currently as an Instagram snippet is taking forever to drop. Fuck patience, I'm retarded I act just like a patient.

Bonus beats:

Level & Mouse On Tha Track ft. Boosie Badazz - #DFWT (Remix)
(From t'internet; 2018)

Just found out a Boosie remix of Level & Mouse On Tha Track's #DFWT dropped yesterday. O.G version got left in the dust by I Bet U Won't last year, so this new mix might give #DFWT some fresh legs for '018.

Related: apparently 5th Ward Weebie is featured somewhere on that new single by Audrey according to Weebie's Instagram. Dunno where exactly because I'd have to willingly listen to a full Drake song to work it out and that ain't happening anytime soon.

Louisiana trombones and tuba alert!

This one sounds hella promising: 5th Ward Weebie does a Diddy and records himself Louisiana's answer to Get Off? Swear down, I'm flying to New Orleans to dish out Chinese burns if Weebie makes like Ya Boy Big Choo and just teases this song endlessly on Instagram for a year without dropping it. This ain't a game, gawd!

... and just like that, it drops. Not the Get Off ya host imagined, more another Whatcha Workin It Fa innit. Fresh 4 the 2018 Magnolia Projects Mardi Gras parade, you suckaz:

5th Ward Weebie ft. Wild Wayne & Trombone Shorty - Drop It How Ya Feel It
(From Soundcloud; 2018)

Word around uptown, Wild Wayne is gonna call in Louis Theroux for the official Drop It How Ya Feel It remix. "My currency doesn't jiggle-jiggle, it's crypto/I start shit off like Ziggly Wiggly fo sho!"
