Sum shit NOBODY saw coming in 2026: Egyptian Lover covering Wham!'s Everything She Wants. I'm not sure I actually like it, but I'm glad it exists. The album mix of the Wham! song is a top 3 George Michael jam as far as I'm concerned. Kinda hilarious that a then-closeted gay bloke like George read Ester Vilar's controversial book The Manipulated Man and thought to himself "I can turn this subject into a perfect pop song!" Saturday to sunday, the Anglo-Greek Al Bundy.
Bonus beats: if you fancy some essential late-career Egyptian Lover boi, check out 5¢ Camel Ride (Long Version) or Future Compter where he reprised his Jamie Jupitor alias. The latter track sounds like ancient Cairo being attacked by Martian flying saucers and plz believe that's a compliment.

You know that line on Newcleus' Jam On It which says "we rocked his butt with a 12 inch cut called Disco Kryptonite"? Well, their main guy Cozmo D has turned it into an actual song for the remastered reissue of Newcleus' debut album which dropped a few months back. Unfortunately there's no CD or digital versions of the reissued album and you can only find it on the vinyl LP. Worse still, the only place you can currently stream the song is this YouTube upload of the full side B reissue of the LP. Damn, this jam is a cosmic bubblebath of analogue Electro-Funk, and I need an MP3 of it like Doctor Who needs a hot lass as his companion. Who got the hook up like Master P? **EDIT** Yohan just came thru with the MP3 like Santa Claws.

Help me out here - is this an unreleased track from 1989 or is it a 2008 track recorded especially for this anthology compilation? Either way, this shit is everything I like about Electro music from L.A and Detroit in the SAME DAMN TRACK! It even featuress that weird stretched chiming sound which popped up in various TV shows and movies from the early 1980s.
Hard Rock Soul Movement - Double Def Fresh

What dis? A 1986 British Electro track by future Kiss FM DJ duo Max LX & Dave VJ designed for Covent Garden body-poppers which got a second wind during the 1988/1989 Summer Of Love and became a favourite of Acid House Ravers. Makes sense because you can totally imagine this gettin' played next to sum shit like Voodoo Ray, right? Morgan Khan must not have been a fan of this track because he never included it on any of his Street Sounds Electro compilations. But the likes of A Guy Called Gerald, LFO and Autechre were all big fans of this track and it shows in their early music.
A pack of Jammy Dodgers goes to any non-Brits who can identify where the "I'm afraid it's not fresh" vocal sample comes from. Don't be cheating by Googling it tho!
If you're a real Egyptian Lover fan you'll know that him & his buddy Gerald Bo Brown recorded a song called Computer Power under the alias of Jamie Jupitor in 1985. But what you might not know is that they dropped another Jamie Jupitor song in 2016... and it bumps! True story: if you'd played this track to ancient Egyptians they'd think they were being attacked by the Martian tripod machines from War Of The Worlds.

Not a lotta people realise this, but Electro type shit is some of the best music to drive to. The clue was there in the track titles all along - from Autobahn to Night Drive (Thru Babylon).
Yeah, Juan Atkin's Cybotron is cool but have you ever heard Martin Slavin's Cybermen theme from 1960s Doctor Who? True story: it was #actually a piece of stock music called Space Adventures Part 2 which Doctor Who's producers at the BBC licenced throughout the late 1960s to soundtrack the Cybermen in scenes like this. Imagine hearing some crazy space shit that don't make no sense like this as a kid in 1966 or 1967! To paraphrase Juelz Santana, this shit sound like it's from another galaxy. The BBC stayed terrifying children on multiple levels, not all of them noncey.

Ya host asked for an extended version of that killer interlude from Egyptian Lover's 2018 LP, and lo and behold here it is. Initially balked at the notion of an 8 minute instrumental until remembering that Lover Boi has form for showing his arse on extended 808 epics. In fact, 8 minutes is the ideal length because this is driving music to peel off on the tar in your cosmic car, fuck around and get your driver's licence from Mars.
Ancient Egyptians actually had flying cars, y'know. It's true - I heard it in a Ras Kass song.
