I'm gonna need a bigger dookie rope to get my head around this new Slick Rick mini album thingy Victory. Don't call it a comeback when it's only 27 minutes long including a buncha interludes with no rapping. The one thing I can say with any certainty is that the songs which initially stick for me are the songs which sound like unreleased Behind Bars era tracks. The whole point of Hip-Hop is not caring about artists intentions/intended purposes and using their music however you see fit instead. Thus, I'm probably gonna consider Victory the follow up to The Further Adventures Of Slick Rick, The Ruler rather than the follow up to The Art of Storytelling.

Haven’t been able to check this release yet but heartening to see at least a few songs on here are actually good.
I remember getting hyped for Rakim’s 7th Seal album. Was a hard lesson to learn
๐ I've never even heard that.
There was one good Zshare loosie released up in the lead up to it tho - I'm Back with Lil' Fame.
Maino being on the lead single is all you need to know๐
Ben, I'd forgotten that one. A snapshot of New York Rap in 2009 ๐ฌ
Never even heard I'm Back. Cheers.
I also remember liking that Classic song with Rakim, Premier, KRS-One, Nas and Kanye if I'm not mistaken: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8RjnpZeM4U
That was quite a big song over here.
Apparently the new Slick Rick EP is actually a "visual album." Because there's nothing Swifties, the Bee Hive and Sheerios love more than a one eyed pensioner auditioning for Mary Poppins.
Glad there are some good songs on there. Love The Ruler
Ice-T was doing "visual albums" before all those mofos
can't stop listening to "documents" with nas wtf is going on has idris always been good at music lol
I didn't realise Elba was behind this shit until yesterday.
Also can't front on that Landlord track after a first listen, thought it would be terrible based on name/subject matter but it's a top 3 joint from that album for me so far lol
I wish So You're Having My Baby was longer. Rick doing -2 minute songs ๐
Wasn't prepared for that Cape Fear intro. Shame he didn't rap on it.
I concur. Could have been an epic intro.
