(From some obscure white label 12"; 2002)
Unlike Game's Buddens, this shit is a proper Colors remake in that N.O.R.E sticks to Ice's O.G script but flips specific details with his own twist of New York slime. At a guess, this was probably recorded for N.O.R.E's 2002 album on Def Jam since Ice-T briefly appeared on that CD foreal foreal, and Lord knows that album coulda done with a few more jams other than the Neptunes anthems.

Needs to be more Ice remakes
NhT Boyz did 6 In The Morning
"Now he takin' off his chain lIke his bicycle broke"
Salute. I should probably stop calling him Noreaga tbh
Soul On Ice and High Rollers are definitely there for the taking.
And Drama and Bitches 2.
There's always the danger of Joell Ortiz or Joey Badass getting involved though
Or Termanology 😨
I wonder if Gucci's 'Colors' was a lowkey tribute to Ice? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YJh8eBlq0o
Hook sounds like a sneaky homage.
aye, your opinion on husalah's new single?
The M.O.B song?
Not what I wanna hear from a new Husalah song, tbh.
yeah the m.o.b. song... pretty disappointing but I honestly don't expect much at this point. Wish he'd just release that unreleased album. However, I did kind of recently discover the Stay Silent mixtape which had some unreleased gems on - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CME_okqHHI
Definitely some joints on that 'tape.
Hus G. Rap gotta be the only track we've heard from Harsh Reality.
this is cool I like C-Murder's "Cluckers" more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ehh2M8M7jU
C-Murder gets bonus points for getting a revamped version of the beat
Husalah could've made the biggest conscious (but street) rap album if he wanted during the mid 00s, it's ridiculous the kind of deep lines he was coming out with and then going back into brag rap
This is great, Nore was saying Ice looked out for him early on/was his fav OG in his podcast, wonder if this was him saying thanks.
I found this one w a video

Frigging Game never there.
Dunno if theres anything more valueless than a nod from Game.
you guys forgot Master Percy remade "6 N Tha Mornin" -- had a video for it and everything

I never saw that video before! 👍
FUN FACT: on the same album, Silkk covered NWA's "Express Yourself" and the video is even more ridiculous
😄
Lads speaking of which did anyone get tricked into buying this bullshit the Express Yourself cover is from thinking it was the og like me

like look at that cover, if you were a kid round that time what would you think it was? I was biased against the name Gangsta Dresta for yrs thinking it meant bootleg Dre
Damn, homie.
S/O to Ms. Kane from Legit Ballaz version of I Ain't The One though.
forgot to link this LOOL

Some prime Bowler hat wearing goin' down in that video.
@ d -- yes i remember this. it was another terrible priority records cash in on the NWA catalog. They had many.
as if they weren't making enough money from percy in 98
Im with Ms Kanes one cos it follows the golden rule of rap covers - flip the lyrics enough so its not rly a cover at all. These hamchilds took it one step further n not only used the same words they remade the beats smh, at least Snoop had the decency to use new instrumentals on each of his 8000 covers. Im shocked Snoop didnt rerelease this shitshow when he had that job @ Priority in the mid 00s.
Got a soft spot for Spice 1s Sucker MCs cover though but thats prob just cos that beats good in any context.
Snoop's liner note/song breakdowns on them remastered Priority reissues of Strictly Business and Ghetto D were the best music writing of the late '00s.
Snoop coulda had a class column or something, hes always dropping references to rare shit n remembers the words to all the records Nardwuar hands him. Him mentioning Jimmy Spicer on a talk show recently also explains that weird accent he does a lot.
I know they were on the same label but it was cool seeing him talk up Young Bleed on GGN.
