(From Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches album; 1990)
I don't wanna hear Rap that sounds like Playboi Carti
And I don't have a no-drums boner in me
What I love are songs by Eatem and Ezale, yeah
Sooooo, gimme new shit by Mac J, Mic T and Max B

I'd never be seen dead wearing any Yeezys
Come on and read me...

Who'll be a dear and link me this list on Twitter AKA the last social media platform which allows blogspot links.
Shaun Ryder really did look like Luka Modrić back then.
ReplyDeleteMust be a Mancunian thing. Also see Gail Platt.
ReplyDeleteWhen is Ezale going to drop that other song?
ReplyDeleteNo idea. I was hoping Ezale singles were gonna be like Jay Electronica albums: you wait years for one and then two turn up in quick succession.
ReplyDelete2021: the first year I heard the word "lunchable" used in rap and didn't hate it.
ReplyDeleteHate to be that guy, but one glaring omission is Flo Milli's "Roaring 20's".
That was one of those songs I liked when it dropped but then never really returned to.
ReplyDeleteSidenote, I don't necessarily enjoy listening to Back Pack (Flora The Explorer) but I respect that she took her whole Hoodrat Angelica from Rugrats vibe to another level on that song.
Mic Terror was so good this year “OJ Simpson” wasn’t even in my top 5.
ReplyDeleteMiddle Of The Map is accidental Beserker-Bounce.
ReplyDeleteLurking for a zippy
ReplyDeleteSooo whats the best album?
ReplyDeleteThat Saweetie song is the most “Bay” I’ve ever heard her
ReplyDeleteIt's the first song of hers I've liked.
ReplyDeleteI'm not an album guy.
No Young Slo-be?
ReplyDeleteIt's been an interesting year on the albums front:
ReplyDeleteTh1rt3n "A magnificent day for an exorcism"
Killah Priest "Lord Sun: Heavy mental 1.1"
Dr Syntax "Crumbs"
McKinley Dixon "For My Mama And Anyone Who Look Like Her"
Number 2 "Rape whistle"
Elemental & Mister Frisbee "Good Dad Club"
Uncommon Nasa "Only Child"
There's one Slo-Be song I quite like (Slime Ball) but I've probably listened to it 5 times in total.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the beef against Yeezys?
ReplyDeleteThey're all ugly, and any kicks with any official affiliations to rappers are for teenage fanboys.
ReplyDeleteI have a soft spot for the Boosts haha
ReplyDeleteSome stuff I'd like to add:
ReplyDeleteBruiser Wolf - Dope Game Stupid, my most listened to mixtape from 2021, definitely check out the title track as well as Mama Was A Dopefiend.
Devin The Dude - Soulful Distance (great song to start a great album).
Ka - I Need All That (best song off the new album)
Also enjoyed some various songs from Sada Baby, Boldy James or Curren$y, but I'm gonna actually just gonna leave this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYd0AFePjy4&ab_channel=JetLifeRecordings
Came across it while looking for some Fiend music on the jetlife channel.
Strong Bolo Tie game.
ReplyDeleteTo Each His Own was my shit from that last Devin album.
Best Films of 2021?
ReplyDeleteStill waiting on Mad God but Verhoeven's Bendetta effectively gatecrashed the party.
Fave movies:
ReplyDeleteLast Night In Soho
Censor
Pirates
Fave TV:
Neighbours
What We Do In The Shadows series 3
Wentworth final season
Ghosts series 3
Not seen Yates' Pirates yet, but the other two would make my list.
ReplyDeleteSquid Game and Mastermind were the only TV shows I bothered with.
Beat The Chasers and Only Connect for me on the quiz tip.
ReplyDeleteGot REALLY into Ben Fogle: New Lives In The Wild during lockdown 3.0 😆
Sod it, I'm switching my Sandman pick to Yup, Do It!
ReplyDeleteThe Great had a surprisingly good first season.
ReplyDeleteHeard good things about that but not seen it.
ReplyDeleteFuck the rap list, I'm here for the What We Do In The Shadows and Ghosts love
ReplyDeleteIt's time you got back into Neighbours.
ReplyDeleteThe very idea that Neighbours is still going is mind-blowing to me.
ReplyDeleteLegends never die.
ReplyDeleteSeeing everyone's best films of 2021 lists and it's got me feeling like the Principal Skinner, "Am I so out of touch?" meme.
ReplyDeleteBest to follow your own path anyway.
ReplyDeleteI only saw about 4 new movies in 2020.
Props for listing DAWN, i still feel like she is slept on. I never get tired of the beat on "Voodoo (Outermission)"
ReplyDeleteLotta good stuff on that album.
