    I might be inviting all sorts of ridicule upon myself here, but who cares. What's a good starting point for someone casually interested in film history / generally good movies? Any publications / websites to peruse? How is Ebert's list of Great Movies regarded?

    Not really into Ebert so I've never seen his list.

    With movies, you've gotta work out what you like first and then go from there. What sorta movies do you like?

    Movie criticism wise I always found Empire pretty decent. You may have to deduct a star/read between the lines if its British cinema or something comic book nerds would threaten to cancel their subscription over.
