Related: if you've ever wanted a wordless animated bromance between a dog & a robot set in 1980s New York which features a breakdancing scene set to T La Rock's Breakdown then Robot Dreams is the movie 4 u. Best bittersweet buddy comedy flick since Brian & Charles, and the freedom of animation means they've been able to recreate 80s New York in a way no live action movie ever could. My fave movie of 2024 so far.
Great list.
ReplyDeleteA bunch of songs on there I regret not including.
Especially Party & Bullshit right?
ReplyDeleteConfession: my fave John Lurie track from the Stranger Than Paradise OST is #actually A Woman Can Take You To Another Universe (Sometimes She Justs Leaves You There), but the title wouldn't fit on one line on the blog page 🤦♂️
D'oh! Completely forgot about Party & Bullshit. Never watched Who's the Man? but I'm guessing its soundtrack is better than the film on the strength of the Biggie song alone.
ReplyDeleteNamely meant Easin' In, Hot Wheels (The Chase), Hoodlum and Lux Aeterna; a variation of the Mansell composition from Requiem for a Dream you already listed.
Who's The Man? is a decent comedy tbf. Stars Doctor Dre & Ed Lover and Denis Leary. Features cameos from loadsa rappers including Ice-T, Busta and Bushwick Bill.
