1. Homeboy Sandman ft. J-Live & Kurious - Enough (2014)
2. Maino - Rumors (2005)
3. Blaq Poet - Bang Dis! (2005)
4. Y@k Ballz - T.C.K (2001)
5. Necro - Rugged Shit (1999)
6. Consequence - Alphabet Boys (2010)
7. Uncle Murda - Anybody Can Get It (2008)
8. Sen City - Cloud Surfin' (2014)
Continuing my one man quest to get Y@k Ballz's T.C.K and Maino's Rumors recognised & realised as 5 Star General classics, here's a playlist of eight legit choonz by New York rappers who are deemed tragically unhip. You ain't gonna score no cool points with any of these songs, but I swear you'll have more fun listening to this playlist than you'll have listening to the latest factory-farmed Alchemist EP with one of Earl Sweatshirt's trendy m8s ;)
Cloud Surfin is still the best faux Max B song ever. Babyface Ray could never
ReplyDeleteI have an unreasonable love for Anybody Can Get It. Hard as nails and fits that GTA IV vibe perfectly. The fact that Uncle Murda shouts out those in game places is great.
ReplyDeleteYohan, and all made by a guy who admits he doesn't know how to drive on the song itself.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, isn't Babyface Ray more of a Faucka than a Faux B?
Marty he tries to siphon some of the swag everyone and then
ReplyDeleteWhat I particularly like about the Sen City song is that it sounds like Lord Tariq from Money Boss Players gone Wavy.
ReplyDeletethis is a great concept lmao
ReplyDeletewho are some tragically unhip non-new york rappers? coolio and the fresh prince come to mind
I'd say Fresh Prince with DJ Jazzy Jeff is hip, but Will Smith solo would be tragically unhip.
ReplyDeleteSouth Park Mexican is definitely tragically unhip.
Gonna need a little more background on what makes Blaq Poet unhip (unless we're talking sales numbers) :)
ReplyDeleteAngry QB thug elder is arsenic to the average trendy plebeian rap fan.
ReplyDeleteMy sort of playlist haha.
ReplyDelete"Angry QB thug elder is arsenic to the average trendy plebeian rap fan." lol
ReplyDeleteAlways wondered about the day to day of Blaq Poet/Tragedy types - they must have day jobs, right?
I could imagine Tragedy investing his Rap money into property, but Lord knows how the likes of Poet or Big Noyd make a living.
