(From United Palace album; 2023)
Shout outs to Jimmy Z, funky flute is in this bitch! File Lord Sko under '90s moodboard New York zoomer rappers I never expected I'd enjoy a song by.' File the song itself under 'the best Kurious Jorge single since Best In The World.' As always, a choon is a choon no matter who it's by so fair play to the kid. Best unexpected jam since 3 Lokos by Coyote & Shaq IMHO.
Who is that André 3000 album even for?
ReplyDeleteThe Rap fan equivalent of people who buy children's books by celebrities?
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling this. About to check the album.
ReplyDeleteAlas, the rest of it doesn't have the diddy-bop factor of this.
ReplyDeleteUnrelated but E-40 went "my handle E-40 but the not the highway up in Brussels" on GPS which might made me crack my widest rap related smile of the year.
ReplyDeleteSo International like B-Legit.
ReplyDeleteI also didn't mind the track Yellow Tape from this dude but he really needs to wash that greasy hair and dry clean his Coogi he wears in every video, manky bastard. Can smell him through the youtube.
ReplyDeleteHard to get excited by a sub Your Old Droog, Mayhem Lauren type. They are ten a penny but he can clearly do a decent rap occasionally.
Rap songs with the flute on>>>>>>> (See : Somethin 4 Tha Mood, Southcide 13 - Grandir Sur Le Blocc, Alpeacha - La Vieille École, 2nd To None - Make’em Understand, any song with Jimmy Z on it, the list goes on….)
ReplyDeleteConvinced my colleagues to listen to the Andre3000 album at work this afternoon, sounded like some kinda jazz/ambiant stuff, maybe like Mark Isham, or Lonnie Listen Smith gone rogue after a bad shroom? Idk. Still a funny collective experience to comment the whole thing while hearing it, but yeah let me go back to Atliens quickly.
That E-40 line is dope!
G.O.A.T Rap song with a flute? I'm saying either Snoop's Tha Shiznit or The Beatnuts' Watch Out Now.
ReplyDeleteDigital underground feat Luniz - we got more
ReplyDeleteThat's a good 'un.
