Kendrick Lamar and I haven't spent much time together previously due to my aversion to his
Zeldar from Beldar vocal stylings, but in the slowest month for good rap so far this year, him doing a Suga Free cover version of
Happy in the style of Digable Planets over
my favourite Isley Brothers jam sounds like something I can probably coexist with for a few weeks. What, Cadillacs ain't gon' roll no mo' 'cause I finally dig a Kendrick song?
Kendrick Lamar - I
(From the internet; 2014)
(EDIT: MP3 got removed so added the video.)
Don't get shit twisted, though,
Year And A Day from B-Boy Bouillabaisse will forever be the best rap song which samples my favourite Isley Brothers jam, and I'd much rather listen to
Bobby Brackins over Kendrick as far as current California rappers with Lisa Simpson voices go.
I am undecided on this.
ReplyDeleteIt's kinda what I wish Shabazz Palaces sounded like.
ReplyDeletethe breakdown+ solo at the ends the arse end of Outkast, that hook is impossible to endure, I love some corny shit but this ones a melter
ReplyDeleteBeen somewhat converted to Kendrick though after mates playing the album constantly.
Teenagers listen to Schoolboy Q I heard em
New Quik tho
ReplyDeleteI had to weebay.gif when I saw your positive reaction to this.
ReplyDeleteFair play, though. I don't think it's very good but your co-sign has me reconsidering.
When Flo Rida has made my favourite song of recent times and I'm feelin' this shit hard it's fair to say that it's been a weird month for rap.
ReplyDeleteTimes are hard on the CRC blvd also in terms of New Rap That Doesn't Suck.
ReplyDeleteFuck this song and black hippy in general
ReplyDelete#Teamshortsabovetheknees is not strong in these comments.
