(From No More Mr. Nice Guy 12" single; 2003)
File this under 'rapper pairings nobody saw coming.' In hindsight, the link-up of former Big Daddy Kane back-up dancer Big Scoob and future Bo$$ Hog Barbarian Celph Titled seems even more bizarre now - especially when it's Big Scoob featuring Celph Titled rather than vice versa. Anyhoo, this shit is a back-slapping bromance à la The Essence with the twist of Scoob extolling the joys of jiggyness and Celph celebrating his own cheapness. A very unexpected slice of "I do what work for me, you do what work for you"-core.
Other than me, Dom Passantino and Plum Drank, who else is #Bo$$HogBarbarian$Hive?
Only recently found that Celph x J-Zone tape online, as far as I know, wasn't even on any streaming service. Have yet to listen to the entire thing, but outside of this blog, I don't think I've ever heard anybody else mention it.
ReplyDeleteSpoiled Rotten was the song which was the impetus for Bo$$ Hog Barbarian$.
ReplyDeleteThat Celph Titled Buckwild album is slept on.
ReplyDeleteO rly? I might check it out.
ReplyDeleteYeah it’s all beats Buckwild had been sitting on since the 90s and lots of good features including one of the best Puba verses in more recent years.
DeleteSounds like Slick Rick should appear at any moment
ReplyDeleteCelph Titled's oddest coupling was in the late 90s when he worked with Christian rapper Braille.
ReplyDeleteStep, true - a very Slick Rick Type Beat™.
ReplyDeleteBen, ok will peep it.
Anonymous, how random.
DR Period really knocked it over the cricket boundary with that beat.
ReplyDeleteHe only did the A-side. This beat was by Celph Titled which perhaps explains the bizarre pairing.
