Generic List Post: October 2021

Obligatory wrap-up post of those songs I've played most during the month when Halloween really did fall on a weekend, me and Gene Simmons were Trick Or Treatin'.

MC Pooh - Life Of A Criminal (video) (1990)
Kurious - Snake Charmer 2 (2010)
Max B - I Wonder (Coco Mango) (2021)
Duke Deuce - WTF! (2021)
Mic Terror - Keep It G (2021)
UNiiQU3 - Microdosing (2021)
The Style Council - It's A Very Deep Sea (1988)
Money Mark - Crowns (1998)

Other notables: DaBoii might have the best Mac Dre homage of 2021; alas, P-Lo's new single is merely okay; Kurious' upcoming album sounds like it could be surprisingly good.

Bonus Generic List Post: 101 favourite non-Rap singles of the 1990s.

  1. Been bumpin' the new Lady Wray and an obsessive amount of 90s jams the last couple of weeks.

  2. I knew you'd notice that DaBoii's take on Mac Dre

  4. Bravo to the kid and whoever redid the beat.

Was not expecting a Lady Wray comeback.

  5. https://youtu.be/lhS2T-kLcbs Not sure how I feel about this song but this is a step in the right direction for Travis Porter

  6. ^ Came here to point you in the same direction. They released a new project a few days ago called Travy Estates: Back On Bullshit. So far halfway through and I think it's pretty good to really good so far. A little bit more subdued than how I remembered old TP but overall I'm really digging it so far.

  7. Have you watched Last Night In Soho yet? Really refreshing having something new out that doesn't completely suck.

  8. Yeah, I liked it so much I saw it twice.

Wright might be the only director who can pull off a London giallo time-travel musical. That Happy House scene is both 😱 and 🤩

  9. Ha! Knew you'd mention that Happy House scene.

Dug all the inspirations and references from Peeping Tom, Straight On 'Til Morning, Repulsion etc, and ofcourse being completely blown away by the surreal genius of putting Cilla Black in a horror film.

Kind of funny how the hacks over at BD completely ommitted the term "giallo" in their awful review of this film after the rightful riddicule they received from their Malignant review.

  10. A lorra lorra laughs.

I like Wright's own description of it as 'Peeping Tom's Midnight Garden.'

  11. Wright listed his inspirations for the movie in a recent Indie Wire article.

He went all in with the BFI Flipside catalogue.

  12. Nice, I haven't seen half of these (or even heard of a few of them.)

Need Wright to do a Moviedrome-type series on Talking Pictures with them.

  13. "Need Wright to do a Moviedrome-type series on Talking Pictures with them."

    Would be a fantastic idea.

Picked up The Collector (1965) thanks to Wright and I'm kicking myself that I hadn't seen it until now.

  14. That's one I've not seen but knew of. Stamp's character was a influence on Travis Bickle, apparently.
