#P-LoHive

P-Lo - Boomerang
(From Boomerang single; 2020)

Since my comments turned into a surprise P-Lo fanclub meeting the other day, here's another of his recent singles I'm all over like Heinz ketchup on fish & chips (other ketchup brands are available!) Much like Yours and Get Me Lit, Boomerang puts the Fun into Function Music and comes as a welcome relief when so much current NorCal Rap is barely functional. Seriously - have you looked at Thizzler or Siccness recently? Both sites are near-endless successions of wannabe Da Boii, Mozzy and Lil' Yase clones whose music has more tickle than slap. Rap's grim up North California right now so these P-Lo singles are a much-needed blapp of Vitamin D.

  1. I can’t believe P-Lo is the most popular and creative HBK member now. Iamsu, Sage and Kool John fell off hard.

  2. P-Lo should bring Ezale back.

  3. It seems like Ezale stepped back from music when his dj Hawk Beatz got sick, and then gave up music entirely when Hawk died.

  4. Need a P-Lo and Nef EP

  5. I have much love for the Bay’s golden boy. It’s incredible that he’s been doing his thing for a decade cuz his positive energy is still as contagious as ever. Like, he really hasn’t missed since She Ready. With so much consistency, you gotta start talking about P-lo as one of the all time great rapper/producers in hip hop. No shots at his royal yellowness, but Mustard could never catch-up to P’s sauce on the mic. And if P-lo’s hit blapper for Yo Gotti doesn’t put him in the conversation as a beat maker, all his tracks for HBK in general and the fact that he produced 100 Grand specifically, really should. Plus, he’s just so damn Yay. Slappers for Keak, SOB, Gigz and seemingly anyone who’s ever choked down a bread bowl at Fisherman’s Warf lol. I mean, dude makes more connections than a BART train. So give the man his flowers. He’s perfected the wholesome ratchet vibe in the place where the Freaky Tales were first told. And when all’s said and done, P-lo is saying and doing the most for the Bay.

  6. Well said 👏

I forgot he produced Act Right. He also wrote the hook and Flo Rida's verse on G.D.F.R. A true auteur.

  7. When I first read that post I thought, hey I know that guy, then I realized that I confused him respectively with T-Lo (discovered on here through the All Day song) and D-Lo (another Bay dude with a Tonite Show worth checking out). Damn. I remember when HBK here around but never dug deep into their music aside from a couple singles and a couple Iamsu mixtapes.

Song is good but Day Ones is still the GOAT Bay-feel-good-track-with-dudes-biking-around imo.

  8. There should be more rap videos with bikes in.

  9. I mean scraper bikes is the one for me 😃

  10. I'd also like to apply for a spot in the P-Lo fanclub. Same Squad and Get Me Lit got a lot of burn from me just in the past few years.

  11. First rule of P-Lo fanclub: we all have to get rattails.

  12. Can't stop listening to this song. Proud that Bobby Brackins inspired such a terrific rapper. Bobby and I went to high school together.

  13. Need a P-Lo & Brackins song, but I don't think they can step into the same studio without ripping a hole in the space/time continuum like in Back To The Future where Marty can't meet his past self.

  14. You're probably right. I'll see what I can do when I see Bobby at our 15-year reunion soon.
