Like Sun Ra, Patti Smith, Fela Kuti, Tom Waits, and post-2010 Lil B, Leonard Cohen is one of those artists who people pretend to adore but nobody actually enjoys listening to. Don't even dare front like you rap-internet melon farmers can name any Leonard Choen songs other than the one Christian Slater used as his intro musik in Pump Up The Volume and/or the one Alexandra Burke covered because dude was just an indie-jukebox Chris Rea who'd never recorded anything which jams as hard pon street as Road To Hell. Remember, my dears, I can smell a lie like a fart in a car, and there's somethin' stank in the air right now.
Keep Tom Waits out of this, you cunt.
ReplyDeleteCage & Camu Tao are Nighthawks At The Diner
ReplyDeleteI like that song used for the Peaky Blinders theme. Turns out it's by Nick Cave.
ReplyDeleteYou have to see my dad rap the middle verse of "Suzanne" to really get it.
ReplyDeleteShocking how there hasn't been a blu-ray release of Pump Up the Volume yet.
ReplyDeleteWould ideally come with a special download code for the CDQ version of the Beasties' Scenario that he plays in the movie.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine how unbearable the media's gonna be when Robert Allen Zimmerframe eventually carks it? I enjoyed Arthur Smith's Leonard Cohen stage show but have no intention of ever owning any LC recordings. Not for me/of my generation. My money's on Joni Mitchell next.
ReplyDeleteIf Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan are such great artists, how come there's no notable rap songs which sample their shit?
ReplyDeleteWhat about yela and juelz flipping subterranean homesick blues?

ReplyDeleteI like the sampling argument but Thug Deluxe has sinatra and Janis Ian and Hustlin Since Da 80s has supertramp abd fucking manu chao, maybe theyre all classic pittsburg bangers though
ReplyDeletestall no actually most of them are legit I fucked up
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the G.O.A.T song to sample The Police.
ReplyDeleteAmazed ppl were confused bout A-wax's ethnicity when he sampled the goat ofay culture vultures. wonder if lev berlak got that Janis Ian album out his parents collection too like me. so weird I literally made a lil pause edit of that exact bit when I was a teenager
ReplyDeleteI can actually enjoy Songs of love and Hate and Marcberg on an equal basis. Avalanche is fuckin creepy shit, just listen to Nick Caves cover version. Keep off the 80s records and keep to the three first "Songs..." LPs its more than u can say bout a lot of rappers catalogue, word! Peace Cohen!
ReplyDeleteThe fuck happens to my comment? I enjoy both Songs of love and hate and Marcberg, believe! Avalanche is fuckin creepy Listen to Nick Caves cover! Just listen to the first three albums and keep from his 80s shit. Rip Cohen
