Martorial Elegance # 86

This is the post where we suggest classic west coast Gangsta-Rap albums which someone really needs to photoshop over The Documentary on Philthy Rich's Cali' canon jacket. Top fives dead or alive like this quinary of LP's:

Oi Hotbox - where's that Philthy Rich pic from?

  1. Sadly a lot of people my age think The Documentary is a classic because it came when I was in high school and nostalgia clouds peoples judgement.

  2. It did have good singles tbf.

I'm assuming a 2Pac album must be on the jacket even if it's not visible in the pic. I hope it isn't Makaveli.

  3. Hotbox also rightfully pointed out OG got some recognition over Power for once. Makavelli could be the basis for a post bout otherwise banging albums bogged down w baggage handlers

theres like a 1000 albums more worthy than The Documentary

    Aint A Damn Thing Changed
    Were In This Together
    Bow Down
    Sickinnahead
    187 He Wrote
    Funk Upon A Rhyme
    Music To Driveby
    Hustlin Since Da 80s
    Federation debut
West Coast Vaccine (which might be a bit too meta)
    Hemp Museum
    Down & Dirty
I Hate You With A Passion
    Dogg Food
    Illegal Business?
    Dont Fight The Feeling

feel like Philty should have like RBL Posse or IMP on there too

Fair play for finally acknowledging Can You Feel Me being the one btw, such a good album

  4. Rich got the wrong Quik album too. Rhythm-al-ism might be a bit too fancy for him but Safe + Sound over Quik Is The Name all day, every day.

  5. Oh wait, I just noticed Me Against The World below Young Black Brotha: The Album. Wrong choice, but better than the Makaveli LP.

Arf @ Pharcyde's first album being on there. Good LP, but totally outta place.

  6. Quiks first too albums is like picking Born To Mack or Life Is... makes sense, but cmon. only difference there is Rhythmalism has the best cover

Short Dogs In The House/Safe+Sound - getting v comfy
Rhythmalism/Get In Where You Fit In - peak smooth music

Too Short might be the only rapper for who "formulaic"d be a compliment, hes got a toolkit

btw in the Pimp C book it says apparently "smoke somethin" is some in joke between him and Short like everytime he said it he was kinda shouting him out

  7. lol wonder if No Need For Alarm and Inner City Griots is too

on Snoops youtube show he said him and everyone on Death Row used to study Bizarre Ride to learn about flows and shit

  8. rey deserves the credit for this one, it's from rich's 100 thousand video ---> http://www.reys-cafe.com/uncategorized/philthy-rich-kae-one-100-thousand-prod-by-ak47/

I welcome any and all above the law mentions but I vote for black mafia life (the original g-funk album) or uncle sam's curse over their debut. Good call on safe + sound

  9. Oh, I might have known Rey would be involved in this somewhere.

If Pharcyde's debut is on there, Sex Packets should be too.

What's our version of "Smoke Somethin'", Donal? Agallah the ___ _____ puns or Brendan Soderberg jokes?

  10. ah theres totally way more left to be farmed from Agallah puns
