Generic list post: back to the ice grillz again

Consider this post a retreat for those of us who aren't yet ready to join the ranks of the Conservative Rap Coalition but also never want to hear another rap song which sounds like Migos for the rest of our lives (Mystikal's pathetic Robert Dinero was my own personal point of no return.) This post's premise then: the ultimate playlist of great songs by painfully-unfashionable N.Y rappers last decade. F**k the Rotten Apple's heroes, we're over hear jamming Y@k Ballz, Postaboy, Loon, Goretex & Necro, Maino, Ron Browz, Consequence, Swizz Beatz and even Papoose!

  2. I know the only good Papoose song damnit (thx AZ's Anthonlogy (B-sides & Unreleased compilation!)

You can't expect me to be familiar with Drag-On's catalogue too.

  3. Good list nice to see Nightshifting on there Killa Sha is pretty underrated in general. I'm not so sure I can get behind the additions of Swizz Beatz and Papoose though lol.

  4. Technically it's a Papoose song but it sounds like AZ ft. Papoose rather than vice versa.

Even if you don't dig the song you've gotta admit it was important for AZ to appear on a song with Papoose where he didn't embarrass himself by doing a terrible flow-jack of Confessions Of Fire-era Cam as he did back in '99 on their previous collaboration Thug Connection.

  5. I just thought of another song - Brooklyn Bullshit by Joell Ortiz,

It's the only good song Ortiz has ever made because it's (probably) the one song in his catalogue where he was on some jolly self-deprecating fat guy Chubb Rock type shit. Also, that Showbiz beat didn't hurt either.

  6. Did anyone notable ever hop on the "Heart & Soul" beat? Feel like I grabbed a remix off Nah Right back in the day, but I can't put my finger on it.

  7. Not that I can recall but it wouldn't surprise me if there's a remix with Fabolous out there.

  9. Ironically, much of this list is CRC-approved.

  10. #TeamConsequence.

SE - looks like that predates the Red Cafe track because the latter is from 2009 and the Young Buck was uploaded in 2008. Pete Rock biting Young Buck deep singles? Oh the humanity.

  12. The only Grafh song I can honestly remember is MySpace Jumpoff

Did he have a song with Jay-Z too? Half of that generation of NY rappers had a song with Jay-Z ie. Saigon, Uncle Murda etc.

  13. Was Blue Roxys too hipster-friendly to make it?

  14. Agallah's weed carrier over PF Cuttin' production would have been a no-brainer if the song wasn't from 2011.

  15. here's a pretty good late-ish drag on song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHtypDf4TsE

  16. That'll do nicely, thanks.

Need some Memph' Bleek too. All the tracks with Jay are too trendy, as is Round Here. Gonna plump for Just Blaze, Bleek & Free.

  17. Could've thrown in some early-mid 00s FT from Before The Beginning in here too, like this one maybe

I think Rock had some mid-00 gems too, on those Best Of Rock tapes maybe
