Co-mingle with the illest minds of mankind

AZ ft. Jermaine Dupri - Rock Me - Hey AZ (So So Def Mix)
(From Hey AZ CD single; 1998)

How had I never heard this remix before Drew Barber sent it me yesterday? AZ & JD combining on a remix of Hey AZ with all new lyrics and a different beat is about as Martorialist-core as it gets, and Pieces Of A Man woulda/coulda/shoulda been the 2nd best album of the Jiggy era if this song, Sunshine, and the Firm Biz remix had all made the track list.

Drew tells me this originally appeared on the the Hey AZ CD single he copped in 1998, yet it wasn't on the 12" version I copped the very same year. And that is precisely why vinyl was an overrated format which deserves to rot away in your local Urban Outfitters store that's currently brimming with unsold reissues of Madvillain and deadstock copies of all those crappy mid-noughties Def Jam 12"s nobody bought.

Related note: peep Drew's Jiggy playlist on Spotify. The only streaming service that'll ever topple Spotify from its perch is the one that has Harlem World's The Movement album available in its archives.
