(From the O.G. Original Gangster VHS tape; 1991)
Here at The Martorialist, we've forgiven Ice-T a multitude of transgressions over the years -- giving Everlast his start in rap, dressing up as a kangaroo in Tank Girl, dumping Darlene for a skanky caucasoid like CoCo, pretending to laugh at Philip Schofield's shit jokes on All Star Mr & Mrs, claiming Lupe Fiasco is a superior artist to Soulja Boy --, but in today's Guardian he committed the ultimate cardinal sin of sweating that bloke who's both the worst rapper of all time and a cardboard tough-guy who got the shit beaten out of him by a teenage Filipino who later found fame on the internet filming himself sucking tranny's dicks:
R.I.P big man. We'll always have that time I turned up at school on non-uniform day with a chain around my waist like you on the back cover of O.G.
Got excited at first glance thinking there was an actual video for MVP's. Always loved shout out songs and this is one of the best.
ReplyDeleteI'd go as far as saying it's my favourite shout out song of all time.
ReplyDeleteImmortal Technique aint that bad. You've clearly never heard: http://eastborn.bandcamp.com/track/terror-mind-glide
ReplyDeleteIce-T was never the same after he did that Black Eurotrash rip off Badass TV. Ice is the Jason Cundy of rap. He was big in the game just before the rap game got big.
Brand Nubian's 'Dedicated' was pretty bloody good also.
ReplyDeleteI've hated Schofield ever since he'd sing over the Ulysses 31 and Round The Twist end credits on CBBC.
ReplyDeleteIce got a thirty-six year old daughter!!!
ReplyDeleteDedication by Fat Joe's another good shout out track. I feel like people completely forget that Ice T and LL were two of the best rappers before hollywood got a hold of them.
ReplyDeleteBut Immortal Tecnhique raps about politics!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, The schofe never actually sung over Ulysses 31AD; only lip synced. He reserved singing for Cities of Gold and yes, Round the Twist. Can anybody find a link to a vid of Andy Crane doing the Willy Fog theme music? That was dope.
