Two unpopular opinions for the weekend : Mr. Eon had a better Rap voice than Kendrick Lamar, and the revamped version of One By One from the Smut Peddlers album is the second best thing Cage was involved in after 54 :
Dope. This is another classic we played all the time on college radio. This came out before the Smut Peddlers album as a 12". I think Cage says I bar-b-q MC's like shish-kebabs...
Most rappers I can think of have better voices than Kendrick. People who keep banging on about his great writing and amazing conceptual stylings need to acknowledge this. Always thought that beat sounds like it would've been much more suited to Red & Meth or The Outsidaz.
Did you check that Kay Slay shit I posted the other day?
That beat.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?

ReplyDeleteThe Captcha is BitchAss...
Emphatic yes on number one. No on number two.

Just listening now.
ReplyDelete1. "Mr. Eon had a better Rap voice than Kendrick Lamar"
ReplyDeleteWell, duh.
2. 'Waterworld' and 'Nighthawks' were both mostly great as "concept" albums.
